I am distressed! But I did my best to choose.
Michael Nesmith and the First National Band's three albums and Davy's 1971 album.

  2. Everything by Mike Nesmith! He is an absolute pioneer of country-rock (up there with Gram Parsons, Doug Sahm, Gene Clark & anyone else you'd care to name). His whole catalog is worth checking out. There is no way I could possibly choose one single Michael Nesmith album.

For me The Monkees were all about Mike Nesmith, & to a lesser extent Mickey Dolenz. Davey & Peter contributed some good things (instrumentally & vocally) but were minor players in comparison.

After the Nesmith solo catalog I'd say whatever has Mickey singing on it would be next. Nesmith may have been my favorite vocalist in the group, but Dolenz was about as great as well

Not really an album but the Micky MGM years comp would be suitable for what their sound could have progressed into. Davy’s Manchester Boy comp as well. For Mike… they all have something to offer.

The first 3 Nesmith National Band albums.. and Tropical Campfires.

Then Dolenz Sings Nesmith is great.

You might enjoy it, so don't go 100% with my opinion! There were, no doubt, a few decent songs on that album but no really staying power, again in my opinion.
