I'd have given this 5, except that I rather fear the cheese course tarnished the whole experience for me. It was a truffle and brie de meaux cheesecake which was so powerfully flavoured that it overwhelmed the entire meal. It was a massive mis-step and far out of keeping with the rest of the, frankly otherwise excellent, meal. (I'd also not fully appreciated that that *was* the cheese course, either, so my accompanying glass of wine, which was sharp enough to have taken the edge off, went undrunk until I'd finished the course.)

As always an absolutely amazing experience. It is typical with several course meals for many of the courses to be 'filler' courses – not the case at 1890! It is clear significant effort and culinary talent has gone put into every course and every last detail. From the kitchen to the front of house, everything is exceptional!! :)

The experience lived up to my expectation and and the service almost surpassed the food. The Savoy Hotel is also an outstanding venue, at Xmas you’re in for a treat even before entering the restaurant.

We had a tasting menu, which was exceptional. Everything was well-thought out, beautifully presented and without the weird furbelows that get good restaurants a bad name, such as spritzes. I would heartily recommend for a special dinner, a romantic date or special occasion.

After a couple of very trying days in London (my phone was stolen and I spent a lot of time trying to find a replacement in a country not my own), having dinner at Restaurant 1890 was a godsend. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant until the moment I left, everything was relaxed, elegant, and tasteful. Amazing experience, food and service were both exceptional. I only gave 3 stars for value because you are not going there for value. You want value… go to KFC. It’s expensive. One of the best chefs in the world in one of the best hotels.

Quite possibly the best meal I have ever had. The wine pairings were fantastic, but the desert/wine combination was inspired, taking the desert to another level altogether. Cannot say enough good things about the experience, a birthday my wife will remember for a long, long time.

Beautiful restaurant and every single member of staff was exceptional but we expected something similar in dining to Restaurant Gordon Ramsay on Royal Hospital Road. It is at The Savoy after all and promised to represent Auguste Escoffier, however we felt that the tasting menu was a bit limited on this occasion, more like a ‘suggestion’ or an ‘offering’ and didn’t seem really established in terms of its impact. There were a couple of dishes that were not our taste (not the restaurants fault at all) but there were two more that just really seemed to have no impact, so that meant a total of 4 that ultimately we didn’t enjoy. It is a relatively new restaurant of course but for top dollar it was a risk in that sense we thought. I think we would revisit once it is more established but it would need some real accolades over some period of time for us to be convinced. Again, beautiful place though and staff perfect.

The service was impeccable. The dishes were both tasty and beautiful. The wine staff were super helpful and the portion sizes ( it was a tasting menu) were perfect.

Each dish was well thought out and cohesive with each other. My first Michelin star experience, and it did not disappoint. The staff was as lovely as the food. Very quick to answer any questions I had. Thanks!

My birthday dinner at Restaurant 1890 in the Savoy Hotel in London was outstanding. The food, presentation and service could not be beat. It was a night to remember!!!

I don't even know where to start this place is so amazing. It was a bucket list dinner and in the top 3 of my lifetime. 10/10. Staff are amazing. Just an unbelievable staff to customer ratio... you feel so special! Food was out of this world. It's not cheap - but one of the best experiences I've had in my life. Highly recommend.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here. I couldn’t decide what I liked more, the scallops or the soufflé. Both were amazing and reminded me of home.
