So east High school is my home school, I go to New tech high school but I took Childhood education in my Sophmore year which was amazing not only was it easy but the teacher was lovely it made traveling worth it. I also have a lot of friends who go to East High school and they say nothing but good things.
Great School with a lot of career pathway opportunities to really see what you want to do with your future.
Our school is incredibly accepting and open. We had a plethora of kind teachers and staff members which are, unfortunately, undermined by the insufficient salaries they are given by our administrative body. We as student do not always feel heard by administration and we do sincerely believe that we should be reevaluating what is valuable within a highschool akin to ours. Our school no longer feels like a place in which every student can find an area to do what we must how we feel best. I wish that we all could be enjoying senior year, but instead we are beyond ready to leave, even though we feel unprepared. We would rather be heard, nervous, and supported, than continue "furthering our educations" while some of us are barely surviving.
Columbus East has given me many new opportunities. I came here during COVID so I've never had the "regular" experience. Every year something at this school has changed so I've had many different experiences. We just got a new principal and although he isn't at all similar to our old one I've grown to understand his administrative style. East is a good school.
I felt ready for college via the senior project. My overall experience was an A+. The teachers are very nice and supportive and down to earth. I would like to see tougher academics.
Columbus East is a good place to make new friends, it's easy to make connections with teachers and get help from other resources
The staff members at Columbus East High School are nice and flexible. The staff tries to relate to students' lives. I recommend the Theater department (Drama Club) to anyone. The atmosphere is gratifying, people tease each other lightly, and it's fun. If you like being a part of something and making friends, theater is a good place for you. Columbus East High School has now mandated that students must wear lanyards around their necks whenever they are in the building. The lanyards are color-coded for each team (grade) and they have your school ID card in them. If you do not have yours with you, then you are sent to your team office and have to wear a sticker with your name on it. After three stickers, you're in trouble. Each team has its own staff, including a VP. BCSC was paid to have block scheduling, meaning that you don't have the same classes every day or every day of the week. This makes it difficult to schedule appointments and volunteer hours. Block scheduling is annoying.
I enjoy how they treat us like adults at this school and this helps us develop time management and social skills better. One thing that I would like to see more of is physical teaching and more classwork. It is so easy to put lessons on the computer and just give homework but when you have to pay attention and show what you know this is when we would truly learn.
I had an overall good experience. Most of the teachers and students are kind and respectful. There are many opportunities to learn if you try. The classes that are provided through Columbus area career connection help a lot to prepare you for you future career. I would highly recommend taking one. I took computer science and networking classes that helped me realize that I want to go down that career path. I’m now getting ready to study computer science in college. I was also a part of the wrestling team which was a great experience. I don’t really have much to complain about when it comes to Columbus East High School.
I love the atmosphere and freedom of Columbus East, all the teachers are open and willing to help. The principle is very admirable because of the way he takes time out of his day to talk to students and get to know them. I think the school could do a better job with balancing the freedom with security. I think people feel like they can get away with a lot of things that they shouldn't get away with.
Columbus East creates an extremely welcoming environment for students. It also has an excellent science department
My school has to be the most welcoming high school in Indiana. Someone that makes the school have such a good Environment is our principle. He is the nicest human on this earth. Everyday he teaches us to take care of everything around us especially ourselves. I will always remember East as such an amazing school.
Warm smiles from teacher but the students aren't the best at being friendly. my time at East has been eventful but not entirely horrifying.
I traveled there for a career class during my freshman year for french. The students are atrociously rude and my french teacher wasn't much better. Currently, it's not terrible but not anything to be proud of either.
I loved the open environment of East High School! I spent all four years of high school here and came to love the staff. The art department is particularly exceptional, and I highly recommend taking a 3-D art class (ceramics, pottery, etc.) as well as one of the C-4 career prep pathways! Those are just two of the things that makes East so unique!
As far as schools go, this one is pretty bomb. They give us a lot of independence and choice. It is an open campus, so we can come and go, (as long as we aren't skipping and aren't freshman). There are many different classes to choose from, and there is a lot to learn. There are also a lot of clubs, and you can start one if there isn't one you like. Also, as far as I know there is very little bullying/harassment.
The environment is great, most teachers are pretty good. Most all students are really nice, it’s overall pretty good!
