End of Year Information for Seniors
Good afternoon North Springs Spartans Class of 2024!
Happy Mother’s Day to all of our North Springs families!
We have made it to the final countdown and have 10 days until graduation. The senior's official last day was this past Friday. Seniors that were not able to finish all of their work, or were not able to exempt their finals will have next week to complete those last pieces of work to be graded. We expect to see those students in the building each day until they are done with their work.

Senior Exit Survey
As of Friday, 5/10, only 104 seniors have completed the Senior Exit Survey. Seniors must have this completed before they will be cleared for graduation. Failure to have this completed will mean you cannot be cleared for graduation, and you will not receive your cap and gown without that clearance.
Every year our students getting ready to graduate are required to complete a senior exit survey before being cleared to graduate. This survey, accessed through Naviance asks students about their post graduate plans, careers, etc. This is important because it is used by the district to help guide future planning. The senior exit survey is an item on the senior clearance checklist, and not having it completed will result in not being cleared for graduation and receiving your cap and gown on the Senior Check Out day. Students have access to Naviance through their Classlink portal. Directions for how to complete the exit survey are included with this email. The senior exit survey must be completed by Friday, 5/10. Senior Checkout
All students are required to go through the final senior checkout on Thursday, May 16th. Students will only receive their caps/gowns, grad tickets, etc., at the senior checkout. Here are the things that you will need to have completed in order to complete the checkout. Each of the items below must be signed off on by the appropriate person before you will be cleared.- All grades uploaded and credits certified. This is an all or none policy. Any GADOE graduation credits not completed by Thursday, 5/16 will mean you cannot be cleared to graduate. You will need to see your guidance counselor about summer options and summer graduation. You will meet with your guidance counselor to complete this part of the checkout.
- Senior Exit survey completed. This will reviewed by your counselor.
- All technology and textbooks shall be returned to Ms. Zachry. Anything not turned in will result in an obligation/fine before clearance will be granted.
- Any obligations and or fines that have been accumulated over your time in Fulton County. Obligations and fines will be paid through OSP. Ms. Shiflett will be clearing you off this list.
- Mr. Landreau and the representatives will be the last people you see for clearance. They will verify all required sign offs are completed, and at this time you will receive your cap/gown, graduation tickets and orange envelopes.
If you know that you have outstanding items to complete final grades and credits, senior survey, returning or paying for obligations, please clear those up before Thursday 5/16.
Graduation Celebration Video
As of Friday 5/10, I have received only 139 photos for this presentation. This presentation will run on the main screens at the graduation venue. I am extending the deadline to Wednesday 5/15 to send pictures. After that date, I will no longer accept them and will show just the pictures I have received at that point.
We are creating a video of all of our 2024 graduates to help celebrate this wonderful achievement. This video would have each student, with a picture of them as they were young (like just starting school), and a picture of them now, as they get ready to graduate and start the next phase of their lives. We are asking that every senior parent send two pictures of their students, one of them when they were young, and also their senior picture. You can see last year's video here: NSHS- Class of 2021 Is Going Places
We will display the presentation at graduation before the ceremony and during the processional. We will also make it available on the North Springs YouTube site after graduation. You can send those pictures to me hansonm@fultonschools.org. Please include the student’s name with the pictures you send so I can make sure they get matched up correctly. I am sending emails back to parents to acknowledge that I have received the pictures.
Please don't wait until the last moment to send the pictures in. As of today, I have pictures for 139 of our 300 seniors. The deadline to send pictures is Monday, May 6th.
Senior Orange Letters
Senior Orange envelopes is a tradition that our parents started four years ago to help celebrate our students as they leave high school and get ready to start the next part of their life's journey. Parents will ask people that are close to our students (relatives, community members, neighbors, clergy, etc.), to write them letters, wishing them well on the next part of their journey. In addition to my letter to all seniors, the Mayor, Superintendent and other elected leaders write letters to our students to wish them well. Every student receives an Orange Envelope at graduation practice with the letters that have been collected. I will tell you that our students appreciate these notes and letters from friends and loved ones. These envelopes will be distributed at graduation practice to celebrate our students.
Please see the two attachments for more information about the purpose, who to invite to write letters, and where to send them. Letters need to be postmarked no later than Friday, May 3rd to be included in the Orange Envelopes.
Senior Grad Walks
The Senior Grad Walks to our feeder schools on Monday, May 20th. This is a great tradition we started before the pandemic and it made a huge impact on our students that participated. What is the Senior Walk? In conjunction with our feeder schools, we will take our seniors to the feeder schools to walk their old hallways in their caps and gowns. The students at the feeder schools come out into the hallways to cheer, congratulate and wish our seniors well as they start their next journey. Our students at the feeder schools look up to these graduates, and we hope to inspire them to want to graduate and go beyond. Students that want to participate must register via the MS Form included below. Do not miss out on this fun and rewarding event. 2024 Senior Grad Walk Sign Up

Senior Graduation Fee
The senior graduation fee allows us to pay for the graduation venue and the diploma covers that each student will receive at graduation. Please use the link here to pay those fees. These fees do increase each month prior to the graduation ceremony, so please do not delay in paying them. You can pay Senior dues by clicking on this link: Senior Dues 2023-2024 with Late Fee (osmsinc.com)Attendance for the Last Week
Students that do not need to take final exams or return to the building before Thursday 5/16 will be marked as a "Remote Learning” for those days. This code will be used at the end of each day but may not be in time before the automatic email and phone call go out. Please disregard those calls and emails.
Keep encouraging our students to do their best and finish the year strong. May 22nd is just around the corner, and we want to make sure all of our students are there to celebrate with us!
Sincerely,

New North Springs Music Out for Download!
Our amazing AIE students (music industry and production) have just completed their latest project. We had four groups of students working as songwriters, performers, recording engineers, and producers. They composed, rehearsed, and recorded four original songs. These are now streaming on our BandCamp site at https://7447records.bandcamp.com/.
- Sins of the Father – an original song written and sung by Chris Drake. It has an alt-country/southern-rock vibe. Credits include:
- Music and Lyrics by Chris Drake
- Chris Drake, Vocals & Guitar
- Brendan Richards, Guitar & Bass
- Jace Rubenstein, Drums
- Production & Engineering by Journey Burks, Jaeda Iman, Sam Kuran, & Miles Moncrief
- Mixing and Mastering by Mike Brown
- Cut My Hair – an original song written by Brad Cruz. Fun fact, Brad plays drums, guitar, and sings on this track, which he only learned to do in the past couple of years. This song is pure alt-rock. Credits include:
- Brad Cruz, Vocals, Guitar, & Drums
- Brendan Richards, Guitar
- Shia Smith, Bass
- Production & Engineering by Trinity Davis, Reagan Fizell, and Byron Vale
- Mixing and Mastering by Mike Brown
- Dream – this one is a little different. As an original hip-hop production, a lot of the work was done in the box in a very collaborative way by Caleb Cephus, Christopher Janowski, and Colt Reinstein. Caleb is rapping and Chris and Colt did the production work on the track.
- Maui – this R&B song was written about the fires in Hawaii. A lot of students worked on this, including:
- Music, Lyrics, & Production by Kierra Barrett, Evelyn Brown, Zavier Josey, Ethan Liddell, Solomon Morgan, Matthew Rachowsky, Sylvia Schuessler, Kortney Wright, & De'Marcus Young
- Kortney Wright, Vocals
- De'Marcus Young, Vocals
- Sam Kuran, Piano
- Solomon Morgan, Drums and Vocals
- Mixing and Mastering by Mike Brown

Student Spotlight!
I would like to share with you amazing success of one of our freshman students Jiayi (Joy) Li.
Joy auditioned and has made the Fulton County Honors Orchestra for viola! Only 16 viola students from all Fulton County high schools were selected and Joy is one of them.
What is amazing is that Joy started playing viola only a couple of months ago! You can imagine how hard she worked to be selected among all high school violists (many of which have been playing viola for years) and to achieve this outstanding honor. Joy will be participating in the FCS Honor Orchestra event at Centennial High School on Monday and Tuesday next week.
Please congratulate Joy when you see her.
