Wilkes Central High School Reviews
Rating 3.88 out of 5 129 reviews
The best part about attending Wilkes Central High was going to class and all school events with friends of whom I attended elementary and middle school. The moral of the student body was mostly cohesive and we had a plethora of activities to participate in. From band and chorus to sports and other numerous extracurricular activities, it was easy to get involved. My most memorable days involve being with friends in various activities I was involved in. The one thing the school lacked was college preparedness. I would say that the staff put their best feet forward and attempting to prepare us, but I remember being shocked when I arrived to college about how vastly different the atmosphere, campus size, academic rigor, and life skills needed to adjust to college in a big city. I would like to see more opportunities for students to have community or job shadowing experiences before graduation and more school sponsored college tours to best support students furthering their education.
School is known for its bad reputation all around the district. Staff is questionable, students are usually falling behind, has gotten multiple threats and safety issues.
The best parts included some of the staff and relationships I built within my time there. However, the lack of student support, outreach, and assistance was unsatisfactory.
