Lee Man wasted no time after kick-off, asserting their dominance from the get-go. In the 16th minute, Everton Camargo, marauding down the right flank, unleashed a cross that found the unmarked Wong Wai near the post, who unfortunately failed to land the header on target.
Two minutes later, Lee Man were back on the offensive. Everton Camargo, once again in the thick of the action, responded to a corner kick from his teammate but his attempt from the edge of the penalty box veered off the target.
The 26th minute saw Lee Man continue their onslaught. Kwoon Chung Southern's Mahama Awal barely managed to get a clearance in the box, leaving Wu Chun Ming in a good position to let rip a powerful right-footed shot from outside the penalty area. However, the ball ricocheted off the crossbar, rebounded off the goalkeeper and went out of play.
It was only in the 41st minute that Kwoon Chung Southern managed to mount a threatening attack. Sasaki Shu, after shook off his marker on the right, sent a cross into the box. The breakthrough finally came in the 70th minute for Lee Man. Yu Wai Lim's throw-in found Martins Givanilton unmarked at the far post, who expertly volleyed the ball into the upper corner with his left foot, propelling Lee Man into a 1:0 lead.
During the closing stages, Kwoon Chung Southern managed to rally and launch several attacks. Lee Ka Yiu, responding to Mahama Awal's back pass, fired a shot from the edge of the penalty area, but it failed to hit the target.
