We stopped here by chance on our way back from the Cote D'Azur. It was not planned, but decided to give it a try based on the few but good reviews on Tripadvisor and on the fact that the place has a garden. I can...only confirm what it has been already underlined. Mychael -the owner- is an Italian guy with a Sicilian and Greek background also enriched by some experiences abroad. It was a late lunch, thus we were the only guests, but the service was attentive, lovely and -on top- we felt really welcome. Il Mandarino opened last year, loved the fact that the menu is pretty small ...also because everything is fresh ...even bread and bread-sticks are home made. To kill the wait we have been offered some olive pate. Very tasty. As a starter we opted for some fried calamari and we asked them to be served with home made pure Greek tsatsiki. Breadcrumb was really light and crunchy. Afterwads we shared a pasta with clam and lemon juice, then octopus with potatoes. Absolutely light and simply amazing. You could feel all the different flavors ... exact quantities and exact condiments to enhance the genuine tastes. Finally we had a choice of three different desserts, coffee and we have been offered a Greek sweet dessert wine.. We shared everything but portions were pretty big. Fair prices: 1 bottle of vermentino- local white wine, 2 big bottles of sparkling water, 1 appetizer with extra tsatsiki sauce, 1 main course, 1 second course, 1 dessert ( a plate with 3 sweets), 2 coffees, sweet wine offered: 83 Eur. Location is nice: the building is old style between the 60s and the 70s, however the outside patio, the kindness of the owner, that italian retro style, (and the fact that we did not feel it was a rip-off like in some other turistic places on the Italian riviera) made it really an experience. Sure that in the evening, for dinner time, the atmosphere will be even better. Definitely will go back.More
