CILLA’S COMEDY SIX (1975)

On the 15th of January 1975, Cilla broke new ground by starring in her first series of situation comedy plays for ATV (Associated Television). This was Cilla’s first project away from the BBC; she portrayed a range of female roles from Mrs. Average Housewife (mid-’70s style) to a temp fending off the amorous advances of her latest boss, from a woman caring for her widowed father to a round-the-world yachtswoman.

The series ran for 6 episodes and ended on the 9th of February 1975. Several months later, Cilla’s performances earned her a “Top Female Comedy Star” award from the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain. The following year, a second series was commissioned.
