Not sure what to say?

Melva and Steve,

I only recently learned of Skippy's passing by a mutual friend. I knew him from the "old neighborhood" when he used to come over and jump on our trampoline. He was always a very happy and likeable person. I have thought of him many times over the years. I am so sorry for your family for this terrible loss. I know he touched a lot of lives with his smile!

Thanks to everyone who has been so kind to Skips families, especially Shelly though this hard time. They say that time heals, but there will always be an empty space in my heart. It still seems like he should just walk through the door . He was such a BIG part of our lives. Thank you Steve & Melba for sharing Skip with us. You did a wonderful job raising him. Thanks again to everyone.

Shelly, Steve, Melva, Mom, Dad, Bree, Kasey, Aaron, Elise, Noah and Nevaeh,

I don't know where to begin! The entries in this guest book say so much, but I needed more to be said.

Skip was a wonderful husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. I appreciate so much knowing such a great human being. I appreciate his love and compassion to his wonderful wife, my fantastic sister(Shelly we will make it through this with loving memories).

I am so glad that he gave me the opportunity to be a part of his family, I will always treasure them. Thank you Steve and Melva.

Skip was never just what he was supposed to be, he always gave that extra 100% that wasn't necessary. As an uncle Skip was the greatest, he would stop and listen to every word from his nieces and nephew without judgement and with true compassion.

As a brother-in-law Skip beared more than he bargained for and never hesitated for a moment. I know also that he was the best son-in-law my parents could have hope for, he was truly our best friend.

The only comfort I have right now is knowing that he is watching over us from above, and that he was truly loved by all.

Love you Skip and we will truly miss you in every moment of every day!

Shelly,

Most times it takes losing a person to realize how lucky you were to have them. In the short time I've known you, it has become very clear to me that you already knew how lucky you were to have such a special man and I have no doubt that he knew, too. We are both truly sorry for your loss and hope that you will soon find comfort in your family, friends, and memories.

Shelly

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and Skip's family.

I will miss my oldest friend. Never a cross word, always ready to help.

Many of the best times of my life have been spent with Skip, Shelly and their families. Sometimes it takes a tragedy to realize just how special someone is and how blessed we are to know them. Shelly we love you. Please call if you need anything.

In Psalms we are told that the Lord is close to the brokenhearted; thus we know that God is so close to Shelly and Skip's family and friends during this time. In Proverbs we are told to trust in the Lord and lean not unto our own understanding; in our finite minds we cannot understand why certain things may happen that we would think unfair and this tells us to not even try, but to trust in God.

In Isaiah we are told that those whose hope is in the Lord that He will renew their strength and that He will have them soaring like wings of eagles and that they will not grow weary. This is what our God wants to do; our God that is close to the brokenhearted will do to those that place their trust in Him.

From reading the other entries, it is most apparent that Skip had many friends which is a wonderful legacy to leave behind. What a wonderful statement that he brought a smile to everyone he came in contact with.

The greatest thing about the Corvette is not its design or its horsepower; it is how that car facilitates meeting people and almost instantly having rapport and friendship with them. It is the Corvette that permitted me to meet Skip and Shelly. I know there are many Corvette friends that want to be a source of strength and comfort to Sherry and the family.

May God be close to them, bless them and provide the strength and comfort that only He can provide.

We always looked forward to seeing
Skip at KCCA functions becuase of his signature smile, keen sense of humor and magnetic personality, it was only natural for us to want to get to know Skip and his beautiful wife Shelly.
While we are saddened by his sudden departure, and still in a fog of disbelief, we look forward to the days ahead when the clouds of grief will depart and we can focus on all the great times we had together. Thank you for being a friend, and brightening our world.

The obituary couldn't have said it better, he did make everyone smile. Skip was a great person and I feel priviledged to have been such a big part of his life over the last 12 years. I have nothing but good memories about Skip and I'll never forget how he has touched my families life. I will miss all the good times we had together. I'll always remember his favorite phrase "winner winner chicken dinner". In my eyes, he'll always be the biggest winner. If any of you need anything, I'll always be there for you.
