New Trier High School offers a rigorous college preparatory curriculum and ranks among Illinois' top schools for academic achievement. Unique opportunities include: 7 languages taught; a Grammy Award-winning music program with 22 orchestras, ensembles, and choirs; performing and visual arts programs with a depth of opportunities including glass art, modern and classical dance, and acting and technical design; STEM programs including engineering, architecture, and hospitality and culinary; business education including entrepreneurship and marketing; unique academic classes designed within each department; 30 AP classes; and an experiential, integrated school-within-a-school.

New Trier is honestly a school that knows where to allocate its abundance of resources. There are always new additions added to buildings, sports and activities are always funded, and it’s clear that the teachers want to make each student as best they can be. The curriculum is also always pushing students to be the best they can be in whatever level that they are at, and it’s no wonder why this school is one of the best open-enrollment schools in the nation. It does have a few flaws though, from poor wifi to a lack of school culture, likely attributed to its huge size.

Amazing school! Would not change a thing about my wonderful experience while attending NT. I feel totally prepared for my next 4 years away at college.

New Trier is a very competitive school having around 1,000 kids in each grade. Yet the competition is what makes the academics rigorous and our sport teams thrive. There are excellent club / after school activities available, but sometimes they can be a lot to commit to. While it is a challenging school from an academic perspective, there are many phenomenal teachers and definitely some "meh" teachers as well, but overall I would recommend the high school--especially because it has made me ready for college.
