Nuuksio is a great park suitable as for families with kids (short routes from 2 km) and for people without kids (routes up to 8 km). Nature is beautiful as everywhere in Finland.

There are also some open places for grill but keep in mind that they are usually occupied within popular hours so take a sandwich just in case :)

Really nice art museum that had fantastic overview of Finnish designers. I loved the glass and furniture exhibition as well seeing Rut Bryk's designs.

Really OLD church in the old part of Espoo. It is really looks cool. Inside is very inspiring and well decorated, with paintings on the ceiling and walls. During christmas time it is even better decorated for sure. Located near Swedish old cemetery. It is interesting to walk around as well, reading text on graves.
Impressive church and impressive piece of Finnish history! recommend to come and see

Kaitalampi in Espoo is the perfect forest area and lake to escape the hustle and bustle of the capital area in Finland. Only about 35 minutes from Helsinki, Kaitalampi lake in Luukki recreation area provides nice trails and several cooking shelters for spending a day outdoors.

When I had headlined with "Try it for yourself", it is so one is not easily swayed from the idea of actually going there.

I do agree with a few points made out by some and believe some of these concerns should be addressed! However, I do also believe that if you go with an open mind and wanting fun, you'll find it. That's exactly what we found yesterday when we attended.

We did skip the long queues due to buying the tickets in advance. Just an easy smart little tip for all to do whom read this.

We got there and found the locker rooms with ease and got ready for what looked to be a promising day.

We had so much fun on the slides. We liked the 120 metre one indoors, the 80 metre one indoors and the 2 person ring ones outside the most.

I noticed someone had mentioned that it was hard to slide down them. I noticed this with some people also but my wife who was sat down went really fast and myself whom was laid down also went really fast. Maybe we got lucky! However it was the majority that I'd seen on the slides going fast. Luck of the draw? Who knows!

OK, so the queues aint so great and more staff at the top by the slides would be good as there seemed to be a few people always trying to push in. I'll say this honestly, it was the same people over and over. They were clearly from outside of Europe like Asia and North Africa. Apart from that, no worries.

Outside slides (the tiger slides) felt really weird to stand on as the platform is Hugh and very shaky. Would be good to fix that or add more support.

So yeah, overall very good with the slides.

The restaurant, very expensive for what it is. It was chaotic and to make things worse, got my simple order wrong! I will say this, the girl dealing with the matter was nice, dealt with it fast and sorted it. So, it wasn't all bad.

I'll definitely be back one day with the kids. I know they would love it there.

I visited Halita nature centre during the off season, after completing a short hike in the surrounding forest before it opened for the morning. The building is quite open and airy, being completely sustainable. On arrival there are hiking leaflets showing routes and trails together with other information leaflets about accommodation, transport and general wildlife safety for the local area.

The floor is completely wooden so you are encouraged to take off your hiking boots and put on light sandals as you walk around the centre so to not cause damage to the floor. There are small shoe/boot lockers for you to do this (free to use) and doing so actually means you can experience the exhibition hall a little better.

The exhibition hall itself has a high vaulted ceiling, and the floor is made up of different material and fabrics – all designed to mimic the natural environment. For example, leaves and wood, taking off your shoes will actually help this effect. Surround sound and projections onto the wall and ceiling of different scenery (streams, hillsides, forests, lakes etc) during different seasons all compliment these senses. It’s quite beautiful and relaxing. To the sides there are small areas for the children to experience what it is like for different animals. There is a small dark ‘den’ that children can crawl into complete with small bear to simulate hibernation. I spent about 25 minutes in the hall, but there isn’t a huge amount besides this area to see inside the building itself.

There is a small basement area with toilets and examples of different insects together with a research room and staff area, and on the upper floor a large café/restaurant area. I didn’t use this so can’t comment on food and costs. Toilets were kept clean, however. I did visit the shop in the centre and the products were presented nicely and all wilderness related, with a clear majority all being local and sustainable. Prices were a little expensive however.

The outside area of the centre comprises of some tipi’s which can be hired out to groups (I’m assuming for events?) and had a picture exhibition taken by a wildlife photographer all about wolves. I found this quite interesting, although is quite small.

Staff were knowledgeable and helpful. The lady who welcomed me in also pointed out a good viewing point that I could visit that was only about a 25 minute walk away. I took her advice and wasn’t disappointed in the view when I got there. Had she not mentioned this I would have missed out. One of the benefits of visiting in the low season in the morning is that there are few other people around.

I was able to get the 245 bus back to Espoo which is about a 30-minute journey with the same timeframe of frequency. There are also 2 small parking areas near the centre. I can imagine the area teaming with tourists in the height of summer so would definitely recommend visiting during the shoulder or low season to make the most of the experience.

It is very nice and picturesque natural park with many trails. Atmospheric, many animals and birds, in the middle of that is located wonderful Villa Elfvik, as a Nature House where kids can learn more about nature and creatures. There is cafe there as well. Inside is retro style and very interesting, though the exhibition is super modern and interactive.
Like this place a lot. Located nicely between Espoo and Helsinki on the seashore (actually it is a bay Laajalahti).
Great to spend a day with family, trailing there both walking and on bikes, birdwatching and just enjoying nature!
    Super!

A nice little museum only 20 minutes or so outside Helsinki. It's an old farm house dating from the beginning of the 1800's. There are about 12 buildings to visit. The main house had an exhibition about Finnish bee keeping as well as a little gift shop. A small dwelling was decked out in the style of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Members of the museum staff were very knowledgeable and were ready to offer their help and answer questions. A little cafe was avaliable and they had chickens and sheep for the children to look at. A nice little place for a hours visit.

Good mall! Good to shop in and easy access public transportation. The mall has easy access to trains, busses and taxis. There are better malls in Finland, but still a great place.
