FSR 3 FRAME GEN MOD FOR RTX 20 & 30 SERIES GPUS FREE FPS BOOST FOR READY OR NOT

Mods

This FSR3 mod is by far the coolest thing ever for us gamers who are still on RTX 20 and 30 series GPUs.

It works on pretty much any game that supports frame generation including Ready or Not, Cyberpunk 2077, etc.

I went from getting 80 - 165 fps on average to 280+ fps in Ready or Not on 1440p resolution with High/Ultra graphics settings.

PC Specs: 13900k / RTX 3090 / 32 GB DDR5 @ 7200mhz

How to Install FS3R Mod for Ready or Not:

  • Download the "universal" DLSS to FSR3 mod from nexus mods here: https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/738?tab=files&file_id=2631

  • Drag and drop the dbghelp.dll and dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll into C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Ready Or Not\ReadyOrNot\Binaries\Win64

  • Click ok when prompted to replace files.

  • Launch game and enable FSR 2.1 under advanced graphic settings

  • Enjoy free FPS gains and smoother gameplay!

Let me know how it feels for you guys!

I don't think I can go back to playing the game without this mod now

Idk if this is helpful for anyone, but after hours of troubleshooting unreasonably poor fps and stutter for my rig, I've discovered that if I launch the game directly from the .exe in the games directory, and not from the steam launcher, I get a substantial performance boost.

I'll give it a shot! What kind of difference in performance are you seeing?

I was having near unplayable stutter and big dips into the 30-50fps territory regardless of setting combination, especially in the station or when shots started popping off in missions. When I launch from the .exe in the directory, I get mostly 144fps with reasonable dips to 110-120sh when the action gets heavy. 1440p, all settings high, no dlss. Huge difference for me.

5800x/3080ti/32gb ram, for reference.

Interesting! I'll FAFO a bit with that on my end today and see if I notice a difference. Thanks for the tip.

No problem. I hope it works for you.

Did you happen to be playing on DX11 before? The .exe launches in DX12. DX11 became rather unoptimized after 1.0.

Tried both, same issue. Will test again when I have some time.

Does this work with DLSS? Or do I have to use FSR to take advantage of frame generation?

You just have to enable the FSR 2.1 setting to "quality". I dont believe you need to run DLSS with it but feel free to do some A/B testing and see if it helps. As far as I know you can only use one setting or the other and not both but I could be wrong as I haven't really tried that myself.

I'm aware that you can't have both upscalers working in tandem, but can I use DLSS instead of FSR for the frame generation mod to work? Because FSR looks pretty bad, even on quality setting.

u/KineticNinja avatar

Ahh ok I see what you mean there. I don't believe so but I'm not entirely sure about that one tbh. Give it a shot and let me know brudda.

Also, in regards to how it looks... You can try various Anti Aliasing and sharpness settings to see if it helps with that. I personally don't have any issues with it but all my settings are on high/ultra. I didn't notice any ghosting on the reticles like I usually do with other bad implementations of DLSS/FSR upscaling in certain games.

I unable to get this mod to work with Ready or Not. Only worked with Cyberpunk for me. Are those the only 2 files I need to copy over? There are a few more files from this download.

Is this not a gimmick? Because I have tried fsr3 mod in other games and when I check the fps, the fps does increase but what I feel is always sttutering not in accordance with the fps displayed.

Capping your frames can help with stutter but it depends on the game, its engine, and some nvidia control panel settings. I only uncap my FPS to see what my max is. After that I'll cap my FPS to 225 which is normally what reflex caps my FPS too on my 240 hz monitor. I use RTSS to view my frametimings and RON in general does have quite a bit of stuttering especially in the lobby. When I load into a mission its usually super smooth. In CP2077 I don't notice any stuttering whatsoever.

After doing what amnesiacOS suggested and using the game's actual .EXE to launch, I noticed way less stuttering and overall smoother gameplay. You can maybe try giving that a shot along with capping your frames to what nvidia reflex + g-sync would normally cap your game to depending on your monitor's refresh rate and see if it helps you out!

If you're running G-Sync + Reflex it should automatically cap your FPS to the most optimal setting from what I recall in my previous testing on other games.

General rule of thumb for G-Sync to work properly is to cap your frames about 2-3 FPS below your monitor's refresh rate but if you're game is not hitting that target FPS then you may want to set a lower framerate cap in order to give you the most stable frametimings.

For example, if your monitor is 144hz but you're only averaging 120 fps in game, just cap your frames to 120 fps. This can help you get less stutters and provide an overall a smoother experience.

I noticed when I use G-Sync and Nvidia Reflex with my set up, my driver will automatically cap my frames in certain games to 224-225 fps (about 15-16 fps below my monitors 240hz refresh rate) and to 158 fps on my 165hz monitor (about 7 fps below the monitors 165hz refresh rate).

I use RivaTuner to cap my frames to the same limit as what G-sync + Reflex caps it to (or 1 frame lower) for every game I play now because it tremendously helps in providing more stable frametimings and an overall way smoother (almost hyper-smooth) gaming experience when used in conjunction with adaptive syncs like G-Sync.

I tried it, but there is no fps increase. Is it necessary to enable the 'Frame Generation' option like in cyberpunk? but I don't see that option in RoN.

All you have to do is enable the FSR 2.1 setting to quality after adding the DLL files to the game's directory.
