Even with her limited screen time, I also loved Ruby’s Francesca but Hannah is closer to what I imagined Fran would look like when I read the books years ago. I’m so excited for season 3!
Totally agree! Would’ve been nice to ask see Ruby’s glow up as I reckon she would’ve been great at it too

More than the colour, that they have finally put the waistline in the correct place is doing WONDERS for our dear Pen
I actually think it's not a true empire waist, I think they've done a less exaggerated version of what they do with portia's costumes as it sort of narrows and flares out at the smallest part of her waist rather than under the bust line
It's definitely not a true empire waist. That look isn't very Regency, but it does make sense to give her dresses of a more flattering style. Penelope is short and curvy, the empire waist style isn't a good look on girls with her figure. This is a much better style for her.

Where are they going with these boxes. Are they boxes for gowns from Portia’s frequent trips to the modiste now that she has money to spend? Although you’d think she would show a little more discretion if that was the case so perhaps its something else.
This looks like the markets the affluent shop. Similar to the scenes of Pen and Eloise shopping for a quill last season. I imagine she’s buying stuff for the house, fabrics, dresses, decorations. She’s on a shopping spree with her hard earned fraudulent money 🤣🤣🤣

Looks it doesn’t it?! Kinda confirms my theory that the reason Kate doesn’t present Francesca to the Queen is cause she’s puking her guts up in the palace chamber pot 🤣 hence Violet stepping in with a silver-blue dress that isn’t in keeping with previous outfits for Court
Maybe they are listening to Kate puking from morning sickness trying to determine whether she is well enough to present Francesca?!
So interested in this dress it has a similar "mouth feel" to her season two looks, but rather than the structured bolero it is that looser one. I think it is meant to show a discomfort in her new role as Cowpers BFF. No matter how bad her scandal or her fight with Pen, she just can't change who she is.
Interesting perspective! I thought the softened bolero symbolised an acceptance to her advantages of birth. Last season were saw more structured and firming fabrics with sharper lines and cuts. This softening feels like she’s let that go, come to an acceptance of her life and is now integrating into society.
I don't know that it's an acceptance necessarily. It's more a reluctant attempt to make something work even if she thinks it's silly. She's still covering up her body here, like she typically does, but the lines are less masculine and the dress is less plain. That big silly bow in the front throws it all off, though - it's a detail you'd expect to see on a child's dress, indicating that Eloise isn't as mature and sure of herself as she's pretending to be (and, indeed, she is photographed with Hyacinth and Gregory and fits in with their looks much better than, say, Francesca). She also doesn't look happy, except when she's hugging Colin or talking to Cressida (which is interesting).
