The 2020 European Championships starts with the group stage, consisting of six groups of four as the 24 qualified teams are split up. Each team plays each other once, with host nations playing at least two of their three group matches at their home stadium.
The top-two will qualify for the knockout stages, while the other spots are taken by the best four third-placed teams. This will be decided by the number of points each third-placed team accumulates in their group, and then goal difference and goals scored.
Group A sees Italy as the ‘host’ nation, with all their games being placed at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. They open the whole tournament against Turkey on Friday June 11. The other two teams in the group are Gareth Bale’s Wales and Turkey.
Group B is comprised of Russia and Denmark as the host nations, with Belgium and Finland – in their first ever major tournament – completing the group.
Group C sees Netherlands as the host nation, alongside Ukraine, Austria and North Macedonia.
England, who will play all their group games at Wembley, are in Group D, alongside Czech Republic, Croatia and bitter rivals Scotland.
Spain, who won the Championships in 2008 and 2012, are in Group E, and will play their home games in Bilbao. Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Sweden, Robert Lewandowski’s Poland and Slovakia complete the teams.
And the final group sees world champions France in Group F in the supposed ‘Group of Death’. Germany and Hungary are the host nations, and defending champions Portugal are also in the group.
All times in UK time.
