Small town that can be considered in the middle of no where but is at a point of expansion for a lot of people from many different places are moving here. Like any city/town, Winter Haven has its good and bad neighbourhoods. Overall there isn't much going on here so to find some type of entertainment even the bigger name stores you would have to travel to the near by cities.
my overall experience here is absolutely amazing! I love the charming small-town feel combined with the beautiful natural surroundings. One thing I really enjoy is exploring and taking in the breathtaking views. The community is so friendly and welcoming, which makes me feel right at home.
As for things I'd like to see change, I think it would be great if there were more recreational activities and events for people of all ages to enjoy. It would add even more vibrancy and excitement to the already wonderful atmosphere. Overall, Winter haven is a wonderful place with amazing people and activities.

I've lived in Winter Haven for over 23 years. Have lived around the country in other places and find it to be on the lower end. Second and third generation populations for the most part who are not very welcoming to newcomers. The alarming thing however, lately, 2023 to 2024 is the alarming rate of population increase particularly from the northeast. These folks are bringing their terrible personalities and political views. With the population increase over the past few years, the city has not kept up with infrastructure, it's a parent the City commissioners and accounting commissioners of Polk County are either real estate based or Construction industry. Too many cooking cutter low budget neighborhoods being thrown up all over the place which is changing Winter Haven, and absolutely not for the better! There are many better communities to choose from
I grew up in Winter Haven throughout my whole life. I find it very peaceful and have had no disturbing encounters so far. However, I would like to see less littering.
Winter haven is a beautiful, safe community. The schools are welcoming, the teachers are caring, and all levels of education are available. If you or your pet is sick, there are hospitals and urgent cares to choose from. The area is safe as there are few and less severe complaints when natural disasters pass by. Police officers are quick to respond to complaints. Here are local businesses included but not limited to hair salons, tax offices, restaurants, grocery stores, parks, laundromats, nail salons, library etc. The area is quite boring but peaceful and quiet. If you are religious, there are many types of churches and a few Jewish and Muslim places of worship and community to choose from, and room to build your own.
The people, in my experience, are diverse, kind, calm, and helpful. A lot of my family members were born and grew up there and still have not left.
I loved it there. I live in Bartow now, a town nearby, but I will never forget winter haven.

I personally wouldn't recommend Winter Haven. It's not the worst place ever, but it's not very safe, and it's quite run down. Real estate is very cheap here, but there's a reason for that.
Winter haven has grown so much as a town since I have lived here. With many businesses being brought up here due to the tourist activity of LEGOLAND, it offers an amazing opportunity for aspiring business men. Winter haven is somewhere I have grown to call home, with the chain of lakes being where I learned to ski, paddle board, and wake board. One thing that would make winter haven better as a city is more opportunities for homeless people to be sheltered. In winter haven there is frequent rain that could cause serious health problems for homeless people so a safe place to escape the elements would greatly better the community as a whole.
Winter Haven is a small town but is growing and Polk county which is county that Winter Haven is in is the fastest growing county in FL. So traffic is awful, the health care could be a lot better! They need before they keep building anymore have the builders help to make the roads wider and more lanes so that traffic will. not become unbearable which it already is. So they need some better resuarants, roadways, health care. The people are very friendly though which is a huge plus!
The overall experience with Winter Haven is that it is a very supportive community and they do a lot of volunteer events to help out.
I moved to Winter Haven about a year ago, it's a lot smaller than where I used to live but I really appreciate that. There isn't too much to do especially as a teen, but you only have to drive about 30 minutes there are some malls and other things to do. If you drive about an hour either way you can get to either Busch Gardens or Universal Studios and Disney World.
I like the calm and serene atmosphere that I always feel here, completely different from the hustle and bustle of other towns. It was a much-needed change of pace my family, especially my mom, needed to start a new life. I would not want anything to change, as it is good the way it is.
I love how small and country-like Winter Haven is. Everyone is so respectful and is a little family. I moved here from Washington and I don't think I will ever leave. Because it is a smaller town everything is very accessible. I work at Winter Haven Hospital and I have been treated so well there. I live in such a great neighborhood where everyone looks out for each other. Your neighbors become family. I was scared to move out here by myself, but I have truly been blessed to be able to move here and be accepted and feel safe.
I like the town because it’s a smaller environment and it really feels like everyone knows each other. Always meet new nice people.
For the most part, Winter Haven is a desolate wasteland that looks like it peaked in the twentieth century because of Cypress Gardens. Other than that, there’s nothing redeeming about this joint. I travel 40 minutes out of town for anything unless it’s groceries at Walmart, mainly due to the fact that every store around here looks derelict and depressing and rarely has what I need. There’s a few good places for food but what does that matter when it costs a small fortune. Can’t wait to dip.
The perfect location! I moved here from Vegas to settle down and this town is so peaceful and gorgeous. Lots to do in every direction. The only downside is it takes twice as long to get anywhere in Florida and people drive like crazies.
I love living here but can't stand all of the new housing developments that are being constructed. I have lived here my whole life and it has been fun growing up in a smaller town where everyone knows each other.
I was born in Winter Haven, Florida but moved to Auburndale, Florida when I was a baby. However, we have moved back to Winter Haven since then and I think it is a beautiful town. My favorite part of Winter Haven is the downtown market every weekend. It really brings a sense of community and I love that Winter Haven has a lot of small businesses that attend the market.
