Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was easily one of our favorite sites during a 12 day visit. Very dramatic setting and significant effort to get up and down the stairs to access. Seemingly enough parking for visitors and there was a food truck with picnic tables. If you have time, I could see spending some time walking along the nearby cliff paths. Definitely worth the visit!

Excellent maritime museum. Brilliant museum that covers a huge range of maritime topics. It has an interesting layout that makes the experience feel more authentic. A great way to spend a few hours on a rainy day!

Visited on Easter weekend & had more than 3 hours admiring the whole Botanic Experience with a few seats all the way round. Went back for a second visit for two reasons - one to again admire the few places we missed on the first visit but also to check if there was any CCTV covering the disabled parking as an anonymous driver had damaged our car on our first visit. The repairs came to £275.00 which spoilt our weekend break from Dundee.

We visited Balmoral Castle on a lovely day in May. The gardens are lovely and well maintained and it was interesting to see the changes that King Charles in implementing. As you walk the gardens you can understand why the late Queen loved the place and it was a place to enjoy the peace and clean air. The castle itself looked like something out of a fairy tale, but we would like to come back and do the interior tour in the future. There are red squirrels in the forest and it was the first time we had ever seen them!

We visited this museum in May. On arrival, we were offered an audio guide or a guided tour with a veteran. The museum is set out with the history of the regiment, a silver room, an armory and a dinning room set for a formal dinner. There is also a cafe, memorial garden and re-created trenches. It is brilliant for all ages and the vetran made the visit even more special.

We were very lucky to have a colleague living near by who took us for a stroll around the little fishing village. The locals didn’t seem to mind us walking around taking photos of their little cottages including their washing lines!

We visited on a 2-for-1 Gardners World offer. There was lots of deliberation as to whether the castle itself was included in the offer, but eventually staff found the info that it is, saving one £16.50 entrance fee. The castle is more spacious than it looks from outside. Tours are self guided, and the remaining interior of the castle is well preserved. Spiral staircases up and down and a one-way system is in operation. Two wings were destroyed by fire in the mid 1960s. We had to settle for coffee and cake at the cafe, as the kitchen was closed. We skipped the gardens as the rain came on too heavy for it to be pleasant to walk round.

Absolutely beautiful walks with stunning views. This is the place to go if you want to enjoy the beauty of Scottish nature and wildlife and escape the crowds of some more touristy places. We suggest doing a walk around the lake and then extending your trip with a hike to Falls of Glass Alt. You won't be disappointed, this is a very remote location, a proper escape to nature. A paid car park is available near the visitor centre.

The museum looked great on the website, but when we got there, it was far more impressive than we expected.

If you have any interest in lighthouses, or ships, or early engineering this is absolutely a must see.

The tour of Scotland's first lighthouse is included and you should try and include that as it is fascinating and informative, and you also get wonderful views of the town from the top of the lighthouse.

Fraserburgh is a lovely town with great seafood and a fantastic beach - plan on spending the day!

Bob as our guide gave us an excellent tour of Fyvie Castle. The history and artwork of the castles various occupants were brought back to life, thanks to Bob’s delivery. Bob engaged very well with the children. The story of the ‘Green Lady’ the castle ghost, raised the hairs at the back our necks. We would recommend the castle tour as a great family experience!

I took my 5 year old daughter & my 10 year old son we arrived at 3:30pm on a Saturday it was surprisingly quiet although I do wish we had gone earlier as there is so much to see & do you need lots of time. With 60 exhibits you need a whole afternoon to fully experience the science centre. We had a great time & are already looking forward to our next visit.

Took the mother in Law , part of the Fraser clan, had a great day. Enjoyed it loads. Learned so much about the Clan and family. Loved the gift shop, and the little book nook.

A stunning, clean beach. Very quiet as the Scottish schools had gone back. Free parking and toilets.

Access to the inside of the castle is via guided tour only. Our guide Reece was excellent, articulate, informative, interesting and was able to all questions. This is a very old castle with an interesting history. Thoroughly enjoyed the visit. There are approx 30 steps up and then same to go down. In some of the rooms there were 1-3 chairs available for those needing to rest their legs (I mention this as I need to rest at times and some castles we visited have no seats available).

There is a cafe, small gift shop on site.

We did not visit the gardens due to timing but would like to.

A hidden gem. Exhibits are accessible, staff friendly and the cafe lovely. A must if you are visiting and activities for children included as part of the offering.
