Best Torrent Sites in 2024

1. The Pirate Bay

The Pirate Bay Torrent Site

Highlights:

  • Official Website: thepiratebay.org
  • Mirrors: pirateproxy-bay.com, tpbpirateproxy.org, thepiratebay.rocks
  • Categories: Movies, TV Series, Music, Games, Software, Ebooks, Images, Adult
  • VPN Friendly
  • No Malicious Files

The Pirate Bay is one of the most popular torrent sites of all time. Millions of people use it every month to download all sorts of files.

You can use The Pirate Bay in 35 different languages and it’s been called the best torrent site in the world since 2018. Even though it was briefly shut down in 2020, it’s still going strong.

The Pirate Bay has millions of torrent files available. It’s also pretty safe to use because it checks the people who upload torrents. This helps you know if a torrent is trustworthy or not. While there’s always a small chance of getting a virus, the risk is lower on The Pirate Bay.

Another great thing about The Pirate Bay is that downloads are fast. That’s because lots of people seed the files, even old or hard-to-find ones. The site is also really easy to use.

You can search for torrents and filter the results by things like file type, quality, and gaming system. This makes it a piece of cake to find what you want. The only small downside is that The Pirate Bay shows some ads. But you can easily block these ads with a trusted ad blocker.

2. YTS

YTS Torrent Site

Features:

  • Official Website: https://yts.mx
  • Mirrors: yts-official.mx, yts.nz, yts.rs, yts.homes
  • Categories: Trending, 4K, Browse Movies, Popular Downloads, Latest YIFI Movies Torrents
  • VPN Friendly
  • No Malicious Files

YTS, also known as YIFY, is a top choice for anyone looking to download high-quality movies. With over 75 million users worldwide, it’s one of the most popular torrent sites around.

YTS has a huge library of over 40,000 movies. Many of these come with subtitles and are available in 1080p. The best part? The torrent files are small, so you can download them quickly even if you don’t have the fastest internet. And despite the smaller size, the quality is still great.

The YTS website is easy to use and looks a lot like Netflix. When I looked up the movie “Carnival of Souls,” I found all sorts of helpful info. This included technical details about the film, a summary of the plot, and IMDB ratings. It also showed me similar movies and pictures from the film.

Since YTS focuses only on movies, you won’t find things like music, games, or software on the site. One downside is that it has some annoying pop-up ads that could put your privacy at risk.

The good news is that there are fewer ads than there used to be. If you want to avoid them completely, you can use a trustworthy ad blocker. It’s important to remember that YTS has been involved in some legal issues in the past. In some cases, it has even given user information to authorities.

3. 1337x

1337x Website

TROYPOINT Patron Ad

Features:

  • Official Website: 1337x.to
  • Mirrors: 1337x.tw, 13377x.tw
  • Categories: Television, Movies, Games, Applications, Anime, XXX, Music
  • VPN Friendly
  • One Malicious File

1337x is a well-known torrent site that attracts over 53 million visitors each month. It’s a great place to find movies, TV shows, music, and even games.

One of the best things about 1337x is that it’s been around for a long time. It has an active community that keeps the torrents up-to-date, with new ones added every few hours.

The 1337x website is user-friendly and provides lots of helpful info about each torrent. You can see if a movie or show has won any awards and how many times it’s been downloaded. This helps you figure out if a torrent is high-quality or not.

The site has come a long way in recent years, with a much faster and smoother interface. Another plus is that 1337x doesn’t have many ads. It also tries to protect your privacy by only accepting donations in Bitcoin. However, there’s only so much the site can do to keep you safe.

When using any torrenting site, including 1337x, there’s always a risk that others could spy on what you’re doing online. To stay anonymous, it’s a good idea to take extra steps to protect your privacy while using the site.

4. LimeTorrents

LimeTorrents

Features:

  • Official Website: limetorrents.lol
  • Mirrors: limetorrents.so, limetorrents.online
  • Categories: Movies, TV Shows, Music, Games, Apps, Anime, Others
  • VPN Friendly
  • Two Malicious Files

Limetorrents is a torrenting powerhouse, offering a staggering collection of over 10 million torrents spanning all types of media. With more than 20 million monthly users, it’s clear that this site is a go-to destination for many.

No matter what you’re searching for, Limetorrents is likely to have plenty of results. Its library is even more extensive than The Pirate Bay’s, which is quite a feat.

On Limetorrents, you can find torrents for movies, games, music, apps, and TV shows. The site helpfully displays the top 100 torrents in each category. Keep in mind that this top 100 list often features newer releases, many of which may be copyrighted and illegal to download.

Always be cautious and ensure you’re not breaking any laws when using this list. Fortunately, Limetorrents also has a wealth of public domain files that you can download without any legal concerns.

The site’s interface is sleek and easy on the eyes, making browsing a pleasant experience. I particularly appreciate the ability to filter torrents based on their health or verification status.

However, having such a vast library does come with some drawbacks. Quite a few of the torrents on Limetorrents are fake, which can be frustrating. Additionally, the site is known for its annoying ads, which can be a bit of a nuisance.

5. EZTV

EZTV Website

Features:

  • Official Website: eztv.ag
  • Mirrors: eztv-official.site, eztvstatus.org
  • Categories: TV Packs, Show List, Countdown List, Calendar, Forum, FAQs
  • VPN Friendly
  • No Malicious Files

EZTV is a go-to destination for TV show enthusiasts, offering high-quality content in HD or 1080p. With around 20 million monthly visitors, it’s clear that this site has a dedicated following.

While EZTV’s library may not be as extensive as some larger torrenting sites like The Pirate Bay or 1337x, it’s still an excellent choice if you’re primarily interested in TV shows. The site features a handy “live countdown” list for upcoming releases and a substantial collection of older shows.

However, it’s crucial to remember that downloading new releases could land you in serious legal trouble, as they are often protected by copyright. It’s strongly advised to steer clear of such downloads.

Moreover, EZTV is known to copy content from other torrent sites, which could inadvertently lead to legal issues. On a positive note, EZTV’s search function is user-friendly, with a convenient drop-down box.

In my experience, I always found results for my searches. The only downside is that the site’s interface feels a bit dated, and the number of ads can be quite intrusive.

One minor frustration with EZTV is that you can’t download entire seasons in a single go. Instead, you have to download each episode individually, which can be time-consuming and inconvenient.

6. TorrentGalaxy

TorrentGalaxy Website

Features:

  • Official Website: torrentgalaxy.to
  • Mirrors: tgx.sb, tgx.rs, torrentgalaxy.mx
  • Categories: Hot Picks, Staff Picks, Movies, Television, Music, Games/Apps, Latest Torrents, Other
  • VPN Friendly
  • Four Malicious Files

TorrentGalaxy is a newer but popular torrent site that offers a variety of content like movies, TV shows, music, software, and games. The torrents are known for their high quality, especially TV shows and movies.

One cool feature is the Online streaming option. This lets you stream videos directly without downloading the whole torrent. TorrentGalaxy also provides detailed descriptions and user ratings for each torrent, so you can check the quality before downloading.

TorrentGalaxy works hard to keep its platform safe. It moderates content and removes any torrents reported to have malware. The site has many pop-up ads, so it’s smart to use an ad blocker.

7. Torlock

Torlock Website

Features:

  • Official Website: torlock.com
  • Mirrors: torlock.unblockit.ist, torlock2.com
  • Categories: Software, Anime, ebooks, Movies, TV Shows
  • VPN Friendly
  • One Malicious File

Are you looking to download some torrents but worried about safety? Torlock might be a good option to check out.

Get this – they actually pay users a dollar for every fake torrent that gets reported. This shows they really care about keeping things secure and legit for everyone.

Plus, Torlock has been around for a while and still uses a “.com” domain name, which is a good sign of a well-established site. They’ve got tons of music, eBooks, anime and more in their library.

When you hit up their homepage, you’ll see lists of the newest and most popular torrents in each category. Just be careful though, a lot of the new releases are probably copyrighted, so downloading those wouldn’t be legal.

One cool thing is that Torlock shows you all the important details for each torrent file, like the size, when it was uploaded, how many seeders there are, and the overall health status.

When you search for a specific torrent, the site will also pull up any other files that have all the words you searched for. Pretty handy for finding exactly what you need!

8. GloTorrents

GloTorrents Website

Features:

  • Official Website: glodls.to
  • Mirrors: gtdb.to, gtdb.cc, glotorrents.unblockproject.rest
  • Categories: Movies, TV, Books, Pictures, Music, Games, Adult XXX, Today
  • VPN Friendly
  • Two Malicious Files

GloTorrents holds a massive library of content that makes it a solid choice on this list. It also offers streaming services and live radio to complete one’s entertainment needs.

The site provides thousands of movies, TV shows, games, apps, books, anime shows, video, pictures, and more.  There is even an IPTV Category coming soon that is likely to provide live-streaming channels.

This is something that most sites don’t provide and sets it apart from the rest. The Forums category within GloTorrents has tons of information that will help you during your downloading process. This includes News & Announcements, FAQ’s, Admin’s Room, and more. These are also sorted by seeders, leechers, and more, to help you find your preferred content with ease.

9. iDope

iDope Website

Features:

  • Official Website: idope.skin
  • Mirrors: idope.se, idope-official.site
  • Categories: Top, Latest, Movies, TV, Apps, Games, Music, Anime, XXX, Other
  • VPN Friendly
  • One Malicious File

iDope’s free mobile app lets you download torrents wherever you are. You can find the download link for the app as an APK file on iDope’s site, which ensures your privacy.

The app is sleek and easy to use, and iDope promises it will never have ads or viruses. Plus, the database, with over 18 million torrents, gets updated almost every hour.

The desktop interface is just as user-friendly and has no pop-ups or ads. It looks like Google and is easy to navigate, even if you’re new to the site. Every torrent download is also available as a magnet link, which makes the process faster.

The downside is that iDope doesn’t have an iOS app. This is to protect your privacy since app store downloads can be tracked. Sticking with the APK file download option is much safer.

10. FitGirl Repacks

FitGirl Repacks Website

Features:

  • Official Website: fitgirl-repacks.site
  • Mirrors: fitgirl-repack.com
  • Categories: Popular Repacks, Upcoming Repacks, Latest Repacks, All Repacks (A-Z), FAQ, Donate,
  • VPN Friendly
  • One Malicious File

Looking for a way to download video games without using up all your internet bandwidth? FitGirl Repacks is a super popular option that millions of people in the torrent community love.

What makes FitGirl Repacks special is that they offer “repack” versions of games. Basically, they compress the original game files to make them a smaller overall size.

This makes the games quicker and easier to download and install. The website has a really simple and straightforward design that’s user-friendly. Right at the top there’s a handy search bar, so you can quickly find the game you’re looking for. They have a huge selection too, with lots of different genres and games for various platforms.

You’ll have plenty of options to choose from! According to folks on Reddit, Trustpilot, and other places online, most people consider FitGirl Repacks to be one of the safer torrent sites out there. But you still need to be careful.

Since the site has gotten so popular, there are now a bunch of copycat sites trying to imitate it. So if you’re going to download anything, double check that you’re on their official site and only grab games that aren’t copyrighted.

Torrent Websites to Avoid

The Internet is flooded with thousands of torrent websites, and many of them carry security risks. These risks can include viruses, malware, malicious ads, and threats of user privacy. We suggest avoiding the following:

KickassTorrents

KickassTorrents (KAT)

KickassTorrents (KAT) has been around for ages, but the original website was taken down several years ago due to legal issues. We do not trust using any of these clones trying to capitalize off of the “KickassTorrents” name. There are pop-up ads and security risks when visiting these KAT copycats.

RARBG

RARBG

One of the most visited choices in peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing, however, despite reaching these numbers, RARBG has faced several legal cases, and its domain has been seized multiple times, because of the copyright violation it was enabling.

ExtraTorrents

ExtraTorrents

In the year 2017, ExtraTorrents was closed down unexpectedly. By now, there exist many mirror and proxies claiming that they were created by the original team. Please, users should be forewarned against these mirrors, as they may be infested with malware or even attempt to phish private information.

SUMOtorrent

SUMOtorrent

SUMOTorrent generally relies on the fact that content uploaded by users is often shared copyrighted material without permission. It was known to have an increased risk of malware attacks or data breaches.

Why You Need a VPN for Torrent Sites

Downloading from torrent sites pretty much requires the use of a VPN or Virtual Private Network. You want to ensure that your VPN is always connected and a kill switch is enabled when using these torrent applications.

When downloading torrents, your IP address is broadcasted to the public which is extremely risky and unsafe. Not using a VPN can lead to threatening notices like this if you accidentally access copyrighted works through the Internet.

Our recommend VPN for torrenting is Surfshark VPN. Surfshark is secure, fast, offers a working kill switch, has a built-in ad blocker, offers a strict no-log policy, and other features outlined in our Surfshark Review.

TROYPOINT has tested dozens of VPN services over the years and found Surfshark to be superior for torrenting and general Internet use. Continue reading below for more important information on torrent websites.

How to Choose The Best Torrent Site

When choosing a torrent site, it’s important to understand factors like speed, safety, content library, mirrors, seeder/leecher ratios, ad annoyance, and more. You will notice in our list below that TROYPOINT has analyzed every popular choice and includes these important metrics.

Safety: The safety of a torrent site is the number one factor users should look at. Most public options carry security risks that include viruses, malware, data privacy, and even hackers. Be cautious of what you decide to visit.

Ad Annoyance: If you have been in this technology for a while you know that advertisements can make or break these. The worst part is, that some of these “pop-up ads” contain viruses/malware that can damage your device. That’s why reliable Antivirus Software is strongly recommended when using these.

Download Speed: Since torrent sites require a VPN, it’s very important to also use choices that offer quality download speeds. The last thing you want to do is spend hours trying to download a single file.

Content Library: This is another important feature to consider. Whether it’s movies, tv shows, games, books, anime, or software, some websites provide more content overall or specialize in certain areas.

Seeder/Leecher Ratios: Prior to accessing these platforms, it’s a good idea to review the seeder/leecher ratios for each file. A higher seeder/leecher ratio means a file has been shared more often.

Mirrors (Proxies): When certain options go offline it’s important to have mirrors (proxies) in place. Typically the more popular a website is the more available mirrors.

Monthly Visitors: This is an important metric to consider when looking at torrent sites. Higher monthly traffic usually means a website is trusted and offers better content.

Founding Year: Sites that have remained online for several years show credibility and trust, especially with the increase in take-downs.

Types of Torrent Sites

These can be placed into two categories: public and private. This depends on the the level of accessibility and content offered.

Public

Public sites otherwise known as open trackers allow any user to access the tracker address. Downloading from these sites is a very simple process.

Example of a Public Torrent Website

Public sites are easily available for all and have an opportunity to join them without any need to register or wait for an invitation. By the rule, public torrent websites most of the time have a huge number of active users; therefore, their speeds are faster, given an increased availability of seeders.

On the other hand, public sites are rather filled with content that is not always trustworthy or proven.

Private

Private sites or “private trackers” on the other hand, limit access to its members only. In most cases, new members can register by invitation only.

Example of a Private Site

An existing member must grant permission to a new member through email or an invite code.  All members are required to meet the upload-to-download ratio as well to prevent leeching.

So which one is better? When it comes to ease of access, public trackers, of course, are much better. However, with a growing number of members, the possibility of downloading malware is highly likely because of loose security.

Private trackers, on the other hand, provide more secure downloads because membership is controlled and violators are easily blacklisted.

In addition, private trackers provide faster speeds thanks to their seeding regulations that require each user who has downloaded a file to seed it back. However, it is very difficult to gain access to one of these unless you know an existing member.

Pros and Cons of Torrenting

If you want to use torrent websites safely and legally, it’s important to know the pros and cons. Here’s a quick rundown:

Benefits of Using Torrent Websites:

  • Torrent sites have a huge library of content. You can find all sorts of files, like movies, TV shows, music, software, and ebooks. There’s a wide variety of stuff to choose from across different types and categories.
  • Torrents usually download faster than regular downloads. That’s because they use a peer-to-peer network, which means you download pieces of the file from lots of other users at the same time.
  • Torrents are also hard to take down completely. The files stay available as long as there are people sharing them, even if the main server goes down or gets too busy.
  • You can pause and resume torrent downloads whenever you want without losing your progress. You can also pick which specific files you want to download from a torrent.
  • Sometimes, you can find rare files on torrent sites that you can’t get anywhere else. This can be cool for people who are really into collecting or researching niche things.

Downsides of Using Torrent Websites

  • One of the biggest problems with torrent sites is copyright issues. A lot of the files on these sites are copyrighted and shared without permission, which is illegal in most places.
  • The quality of files on public torrent sites can be iffy, and there’s a risk of getting viruses or malware. Anyone can upload files, so you have to be careful.
  • Downloading or sharing copyrighted stuff without permission can get you into legal trouble, like getting fined or sued by the copyright owners.

Final Thoughts

Overall, torrent websites can be great for downloading music, movies, TV shows, books, software, games, and more. However, it is very important to understand the security and legal risks of using these.

TROYPOINT does not endorse illegal downloading or uploading in any manner whatsoever. Users should only load content not protected by copyright.

FAQs

What is the Best Torrent Site?

The “best” torrent website is primarily based on user preference and what features you are looking for. After testing dozens, TROYPOINT has ranked The Pirate Bay, 1337x, EZTV, LimeTorrents, YTS, and others listed above as our preferred options.

Are Torrent Websites Legal?

Overall, these are not illegal, considering the kind of software they use to share files is the BitTorrent protocol. However, where legality comes into question is when users are downloading copyrighted files from these platforms. In most countries, sharing and downloading copyrighted content without the holder’s permission are offenses punishable under very strict legal consequences. TROYPOINT does not support or encourage the use of this technology for illegally sharing copyrighted content under any circumstances.

Are These Options Safe?

Some torrent websites are safer than others, but in general most public sites carry security risks that can harm your device. This includes the threats of viruses, malware, data privacy, and even hackers. TROYPOINT highly recommends using a secure VPN when accessing these.

What Happens if I Get Caught Using Torrents?

If you are caught torrenting copyrighted content, you could receive copyright infringement notices from your ISP, get suspended from your ISP altogether, or face legal action from copyright holders. While it’s rare, in some jurisdictions it is technically possible for users to face criminal charges for copyright infringement. TROYPOINT does not endorse torrenting copyrighted content under any circumstances.

What Happened to The Pirate Bay?

The Pirate Bay is still active today, but they have had several legal problems in the past and are banned in several countries. While accessible in the United States, The Pirate Bay is banned in the UK, Brazil, Iceland, Italy, India, Iran, Ireland, Denmark, China, Germany, Greece, and other regions.

What Happened to RARBG?

RARBG was one of the most popular torrent sites out there but unfortunately it shut down in May 2023 due to high costs and health concerns of the operators. The founders of the site came out and explained all the difficulties they had been dealing with. It’s a real bummer, but it seems like RARBG is gone for good.

  1. There’s NO way this page/list was updated as recently as it CLAIMS to have been. Both KAT & RARBG are GONE, CLOSED, DONE, OVER, FIN, THE END… As such, they should be REMOVED from the list (again, NO way it was updated in OCT of 2023) FFS KAT has been closed since what 2016… .. .

    1. Hi there,

Please read the article before commenting. We note that KAT is not the original version and also that RARBG has shut down operations.

    2. How about “Thank you Troy for providing us with this free info, all done on your own time!” Instead of whingeing and moaning like a baby for something you’ve got for free.

You can always go somewhere else to leech and freeload off if you don’t like what you get off here for nothing.

      A thank you doesn’t cost a penny.

Also, thank you Troy, I much appreciate the hard work you put in collating all of the info you provide.

  2. I appreciate you providing this insightful knowledge. I can get the most use out of this resource, in my opinion. I sincerely appreciate all of your effort.

  3. Do all torrents have to be downloaded using a laptop or computer? I use pia vpn and any site I go to for torrents tells me my IP address is showing. What can do to change this? Thanks for all your tutorials. You are awesome

    1. Hey Waylan! Check to see ‘what’ the IP address is showing (number sequence), each time you connect, disconnect, and then connect to a new ‘location’ on your VPN. Here’s why: it will ‘Always’ show an IP address, however, each address should be unique/different from the next. Scrambling your ‘actual’ IP address. Hope this helps! Cheers ?

  4. Very new to all this but I am enjoying the freedom. I have a Nord VPN and it doesn’t work very well on my TV. I am going to change to yours. Last question, how do I erase all the foreign channels from my Smarters live tv list. Too much scrolling.
    Regards Barry

  5. Great list, with one major exception: Torrentdownloads.me. This used to be my #1 favorite, go-to site for most of my torrenting. It is, however, now virtually unusable anymore because of the ads and pop-ups. You have to click multiple times on anything – from the search box to a magnet download link – to actually get it to do what you want it to do, with each click 9 times out of 10 opening up a new browser page with some nasty crap in a lot of it. Ad Annoyance should definitely be a solid 8, if not a 9 – making a whole new level of annoyance.
Otherwise, again, fantastic list, and thank you!

  6. Troy,
Ive been a member/follower for a while. What do you think is the best for the Firestick. I currently have cinema on it but want to know what you think…

    Tim
