Individuals or teams can sign up for self-service trials of Microsoft Project on their organization’s existing Microsoft 365 tenants with their business logins. They can try out the full functionality of the product for one month before directly purchasing subscriptions.
With self-service trials, users can request trials for their team members independently of IT procurement. They can sign up for up to 25 user trial licenses for Project and then assign those trials to their colleagues within the Microsoft 365 admin center.

These self-service trials are available worldwide except for India. They are not available for Education or Government customers. If users or teams run into any issues signing up for trial licenses, then it is recommended that they contact their IT department.
Please note: To begin a trial, users or teams will be required to provide a credit card. The trial duration will vary depending on the month they sign up. The expiration date will appear in the trial subscription details page within the Microsoft 365 admin center. Upon the expiration of the one-month trial, they will be charged the applicable subscription fee to ensure there are no disruptions to their work. Cancellation can be done at any time to stop future charges.

Manage trial licenses as a Global or Billing admin
The self-service trials for Project don’t compromise IT oversight or control. If you are an admin, you can use the same self-service purchase controls to disable self-service trials while making use of subscription management capabilities to oversee and manage trial licenses on the Licensing page in the Microsoft 365 admin center.
If you’ve disabled the self-service purchase functionality for Project in the past, the self-service trial sign up for individuals or departments will automatically allow users to request licenses directly from you.
