Liam Delap has not ruled out extending his stay at Hull City beyond the end of the current Championship season and says conversations will need to be had with the reigning Premier League champions this summer.

The on loan striker has made a big impression at the MKM Stadium since arriving on loan from FA Cup finalists Manchester City and delivered another fine cameo in the second half of Saturday's goalless draw at Watford as he continues his recovery from a knee injury which saw him miss three months.

Delap is due to return to the Etihad Stadium in the summer and has three years left on his existing deal, but Liam Rosenior is keen for the 21-year-old to remain next season, while City's fans serenaded him during last weekend's 3-0 win over QPR with chants of 'we want you to stay' with songs also sung urging owner Acun Ilicali to make his move permanent.

"It's nice to hear," Delap told Hull Live when asked about the fans' chants last weekend and what it means to hear those songs, and such love coming down from the terraces. "When you're appreciated somewhere, it's a nice feeling as a player.

"You've just got to play the last three games, hopefully, another three and see what happens in the summer. There's discussions that obviously get had, so I'll just see what happens. I do love it here and I do love the fans, I love playing and playing with the manager and with the boys. We'll just see what happens and, you know, there's conversations to be had."

The striker only returned to action off the bench last weekend after three months out with a knee injury, and he says he owes the club a debt of gratitude and sticking with him.

"Yes, definitely (owe the club for standing by him). I think I've got to show a great appreciation for everyone here, and I love it here. It's made me really happy that they've done that because now I get the last few games with the boys and to play in front of the fans."
