"This exclusive double 12” grew out of mixes that were undertaken to celebrate the release of the super deluxe version Roxy Music’s debut album in spring 2018. Overseen from Bryan Ferry’s London HQ, these seven versions celebrate the essential otherworldliness of Roxy Music’s space age vision, stardate 1972. This strictly limited set with reinterpretations by Idjut Boys, Man Power, Leftside Wobble and Johnson Somerset was mastered by Frank Arkwright at Abbey Road and features outtakes of Karl Stoecker’s legendary cover shoot photo session."

- Edited 3 years agoLove all these mixes! Artwork is particularly good. Idjuts deliver the goods again.
- Enjoying the mixes, mastered well, quality pressed 180g vinyl, sounds excellent. Happy to have an interesting accompaniment to my Roxy albums. Ladytron (Idjut Boys Golden Shrine Dub) is a galactic masterpiece!
- I'm Leftside Wobble and whilst it's true to say that the remix project grew out of the 2018 deluxe edition of Roxy's debut album. The remixes weren't completed until long after the deluxe edition of Roxy's debut album came out. My mix of 2HB was only delivered very recently.
The original plan was that they would come out at the same time, but things didn't fall into place that way. - Enjoying the mixes but quite a lot of ingrained dirt & fluff in the record which a cursory clean doesn't get rid of. Accordingly have jumps in a number of places and a well fluffed up stylus.
- Edited 5 years agoReally like this LP, wish there were treatments of a wider selection of tracks from that 1st LP. The 'Sound of Vinyl' download code is a complete non-starter....as usual.
- Edited 5 years agoPleasantly surprised at how good these edits/remixes actually are - I was worried they would be cheesy electro workouts, or bland dance/club mixes - but they reveal some hidden elements in the original recordings, and add subterranean, echoey, fluid and ambient effects to extend and enhance key components. I can even hear aspects of Soft Machine and Pink Floyd, which should not be that surprising. An RSD release that actually makes sense.
