Peggy Sarlin's book, although overpriced, had very good information on the avoidance and treatment of Alzheimer's as well as other dementias. I strongly recommend anyone who is dealing with any dementia and anyone who has to deal with someone who has dementia go ahead and spring for the $29.95. Even if only one of the treatments helps, it will have been well worth the expense. I had not seen this information anywhere else except in tiny sections and not nearly as complete as this coverage.

The book is available only in PDF format and it did not convert well to the Kindle. I read it on my iPad and got through it OK. It is understandable by the lay person even though occasionally lapsing into medical speak. I think it would gain a much larger audience if it were available for all the e-readers out there and the price lowered to below $10.00.

Ms. Sarlin is not a doctor, but an author, and thus her mind has not been contaminated with those stuck in the realm of Big Pharma as the only solution to medical problems. Ironically, one of the causes of brain confusion, often mis-diagnosed as dementia, is over prescribing of medicines that conflict and cause toxicity. I have personally observed several of these and when removed from the prescription drugs, readily returned to normal.

Once again, if you have dementia (including Alzheimer's) or are a caretaker or even a friend that has this terrible condition, do not hesitate, rush out and get this book!

This is a really great book, in that it presents various treatments for Alzheimer's patients and each one is backed up by scientific studies, though some are in the early stages of being studied. It's fascinating that so many of the case studies in this book involve people who were already being treated, unsuccessfully, by doctors with standard drugs. Sarlin points out how they were declining, until the people around them chose alternative methods of treating them. I would urge anyone with a failing memory, or if you have loved ones who do, to read this book and try some of the supplements and methods recommended to heal them. Mainstream medicine doesn't have good solutions for this terrible disease yet, but that doesn't mean they don't exist.

A transcript of nine different interviews with various health care practitioners, mostly doctors. I love the doctors who can say stay open and receptive to learning from their patients. And who are willing to change their conclusions based on new evidence they witness with patients. That's how most of these docs learned that Alzheimer's is treatable in early stages. So refreshing.

Both my paternal great-grandma and her daughter, my grandma, were afflicted with Alzheimer's / dementia. Thankfully, my dad is not showing symptoms, and now after reading this book, I'll be taking more preventative measures to avoid the brain disease.

Some notes:

Alzheimer's patients have the following signs: type III diabetes, candida, thyroid levels are off, level of homocysteine are over 7, whatever that means.

Coconut oil = good and can reverse progression

Coenzyme Q10 = good (thankfully, I already take it daily)

The RDA for B vitamins are stupid low. 50 mg of each are needed (!)

ME3 = good for creating glutathione in the body which is an antioxidant that helps to clean the liver.

Ketosis eating = good
