Lemoyne Clapp Obituary

Lemoyne Houck Clapp

South Knoxville, TN

Lemoyne Houck Clapp, age 79, lifelong resident of South Knoxville passed away November 5, 2017. Lemoyne was a 1956 graduate of South High School. She was a member of South Knoxville Baptist Church and attended Sevier Heights Baptist Church where she taught Bible School for many years. Lemoyne was as spirited as she was loving, and as beautiful as she was loquacious. She not only spoiled her own children and grandchildren, she spoiled everyone she cared about. If you stopped by her home, you were showered with warm conversation, hugs and tremendous amounts of food. Pounds of it! You simply did not leave her house with an empty stomach. Lemoyne was also historically beautiful and happily reminded her children, husband, and friends about that fact many times daily. Lemoyne was also wildly protective of her family and friends. Heaven help you if you crossed anyone she loved. Although slight in frame she had the temper of a Miura bull, and as the left jaws of many South Knoxville hoodlums can attest she had a straight right hand that rivaled Thomas Hearns'. Preceded in death by parents, John and Nora (Billie) Houck; sister-in-law, Marjorie Clapp; brother-in-law, Bob Wade; father and mother-in-law, John and Sarah Clapp. Lemoyne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Phil Clapp; daughters, Lynne and husband, Ronnie Draughon, Krisden and husband, Danny Parrott; son, PJ and wife, Naomi Clapp; grandchildren, Dusty, Krisden and Ronnie Draughon, Brandon Parrott, Madison, Rocko, and Arlo Clapp; great-grandchildren, Dylan and Devyn Draughon, Londyn Crawford; sister, Phyllis Wade; half brother, Johnny Houck; brother-in-law, Dr. Johnny Clapp and wife Betty; niece, Rhonda Whitt; nephews, Robbie, Roger and Richie Wade. The family will receive friends 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 3704 Chapman Highway. A celebration of life service will be held at 7:00 pm with Rev. Don Wilson and Linda Tipton officiating. The family will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery, Thursday, November 9, 2017 for a 10:00 am graveside service. Condolences may be offered at www.berryfuneralhome.com.

Phil, Lynne, Ronnie, Krisden, Danny, PJ, Naomi, Phyllis and family. I am extremely heartbroken about your loved one and my dear friend. I first met Lemoyne in 1982 and I knew immediately that we would be friends for a very long time. She was one of a kind. We had a lot of good times together and she loved talking to me about her grandchildren and kids, who by the way, are all perfect. We will never forget her and she will remain in our hearts forever. God bless you all during this very sad and difficult time. May God put peace and comfort in your hearts. I love you all. Heaven definitely gained a feisty and Sassy beautiful angel. My sincere condolences to all. With love,

I am so sorry to hear about Lemoyne;'s passing. She was such a beautiful person inside and out. Her laughter lit up the whole room and just being around her made you smile. There are so many memories passing through my mind as I think about her and the many things we shared over the years. One special memory that comes to mind is when I saw her in the grocery store after a dear friend of mine had passed away she started talking to me about her and she ended up putting her arms around me and we both shed many. many tears right there in the middle of the store. She was that kind of person. One that would feel your pain and know how to make you feel better with just being herself. She was also my daughter's babysitter when she was young and my daughter totally adored her and felt so much love from her. She has always held a special place in Ashley's heart. I could go on and on there would never be enough good words to say about Lemoyne. She will be so missed by all those whose lives she touched but especially by her family and those who loved her. She was an angel here on earth and now she is an angel in our heavenly father's arms (and I bet she has everybody cracking up in heaven with that wonderful personality and gift of laughter). She will be missed so much. To the family, my thoughts love and prayers are coming your way. Let God's love surround you and give you strength at this difficult time.

I have known Lemoyne since second grade; we went through school, and graduated together. She was always a happy, bubbly, loving friend. Then we were busy raising our children, but in later years we enjoyed getting together, reminiscing about "the good ol' days!" She was certainly "one of a kind, a real jewel" who would do anything for those around her. I will certainly miss my dear friend.
To the Family: you are in my prayers! May God comfort each of you.
