*review by Daryl K

The Murder Junkies never really went anywhere, but they are back with a new album of their own “Road Killers”. Unfortunately they are best known for being a GG Allin tribute band as they got their start as his backing band. It is unfortunate because as they have shown in their latest release, they’ve come into their own.

MVD Audio gets the exclusive rights to release this gore/crude punk rock album. What would you expect from a band that toured with GG? I wouldn’t get into this album with any false pretenses. If you know who GG Allin is, then you will have some idea of what you are getting yourself into. It is definitely an extension of GG even though he has been dead for well over 18 years, however, with this latest release the Murder Junkies have begun to shift away from standing in the shadows cast by GG’s stage antics and into casting their own.

Personally, I was never the biggest GG Allin fan, I could listen to him, even had a few albums, I just wouldn’t say that they were getting constant play. So there was no disillusion when I threw The Murder Junkies “Road Killers” into the stereo. After all with titles like “Once a Whore”, “Two Dicks in Your Mouth” and “Piss Drinkin’ Jew” what would you expect? The lyrics are all over the top as to be expected, but the real surprise was how tight the music is. “One Rail Away” demonstrates real talent in the ability to lace tracks with the proper amount of guitar rhythm over the lead. “Hated in Life” is another great tribute song to GG and I don’t think the Junkies care about using GG’s stardom to get them around. They deserve it and with this release they will continue to get shows across the world.

Pick up the album weather you are a GG fan or not. I’m pretty confident that you will like it. Then again, when was the last time you read a review and went out directly to buy that album? That is not very punk, and certainly not something the true king of rock and roll would approve of. I don’t think the Murder Junkies would either.

The Murder Junkies recently finished their tour in support of their 20th anniversary and currently don’t have any shows booked check the links below for news.

Scumbag Mitcd is great I’ve been listening to GG ever since someone I never saw again dropped me off atmy shitty walkup after a night if speed and bad decisions about ten years ago.(suicide sessions/Antisocial personality disorder live) According to me is GG’s best stuff other than Freaks,Faggots,Drunks, and junkies. But who’s Fucking asking me right?
Onward Christian Soldiers to The Murder Junkies , I’ve been at every show since Mister Dufay joined the line up and they always put on a great show. You can always expect Dino to be drumming in the buff and some loser to try and do his best GG impression on stage only to get his ass kicked off of the stage by the band.
They have always made it very clear that they are not a GG cover band Road killers is a great record and if you get the chance don’t miss a livevshow
