Big Sean has said that this song is about his time growing up, likening his extended family to a "pack of wolves" in the way they looked out for each other. As a mark of his close familial ties, Big Sean's mother makes an appearance in the song's music video.
Post Malone ended up featuring on the track after running into Big Sean at a restaurant. Out of mutual respect, Sean told him that he was working on a song and asked if he wanted to make a feature, Once Post Malone heard the demo tape, Sean says he thought it was "incredible" and couldn't refuse the offer.
The uncredited adlibs in the song's opening are provided by none other than A$AP Rocky. Big Sean has said that Rocky originally had an entire verse on the track, which eventually ended up on the cutting room floor.
