Owning nearly every album that Janie Fricke has ever recorded, this was one of the final albums that I added to my collection - and, wow, am I happy that I did! I won't go on about the flawless vocals and top-notch instrumentation - you can EXPECT that from any Janie Fricke offering. Instead, I'd just like to point out some standout's on this wonderful album.
"Give 'Em My Number" - Optimistic, upbeat breakup track! Telling your ex to give you number to anyone out there looking for true love. Very cool twist to the traditional breakup song.
"Walking On The Moon" - The excitement of new, young love and the words of caution from mom - it's all here. Great song!!!
"I Can't Help The Way That I Don't Feel" - This song floors me. So very powerful. Unrequited love from the perspective of the one who is not feeling it, yet the compassion is there for the other person. Love this song.
"No Ordinary Memory" - The bridge and soaring chorus of this song are just perfect. You've gotta hear it to believe it. Soooooo good!
"One Of Those Things" - Haven't we all been there - "It's just one of those things / That I can't do nothin' about." Sometimes life is rough, and certain things just have to be accepted - and then move on. This song nails that.
Just a brief overview of an album that you can feel the love invested in every turn of phrase. Beautiful work.
