Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What travellers are saying
- Suzie D17 contributionsI selected this walk for a family activity today and we loved ! We started the walk at the wharf however we went west bound so managed to go down most of the walk hilly bits so my suggestion would be to do the same having read some of the other reviews.
We have lived in the Inner West for 20 years and loved the hidden lanes and historical stories along the way. Great way to see our city and to learn about Tom Uren and his legacy.Written 12 November 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. There are plenty of seats, a band rotunda, childrens playground and toilets. Another attraction is the Dawn Frazer Baths. Parking is easy round the park with plenty of unrestricted space.Written 27 June 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Janet GSydney, Australia242 contributionsTHE Birchgrove Oval was featured in the movie Ladies in Black. Recently the heritage fence has been replaced and the small beach on the harbour side of the Oval is the favourite hang out for much of the dog population in the area. The various canines mingle chasing each other and retrieving their balls from the water with Labradors the clear winners in the find the ball stakes . Occasionally on hot days children join their pets paddling on the small strip of sand. On the pier some enthusiastic fishermen occasionally land a catch and its a good place to launch a canoe into the harbour. This is a great spot to view New Years Eve fireworks for free.Written 10 March 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - mrdom7,586 contributionsThis tucked away park on a small cove used by the water police has a great view of the city but not much else. Aside from the side section under the huge tree, it's pretty barren, overlooked by housing developments and rather nice from the ports in the vicinity. It is in a good part of Balmain for walking around and it's on the Tom Uren Walking Trail.Written 20 October 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Sim N1 contributionA perfectly good supermarket ruined by the powers that be. What a shame. Products that nobody needs or what's. Prices through the roof. Now we must travel a fair distance to Coles at Birkenhead to get what we need for the week.Written 28 May 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - megNedlands, Australia18 contributionsThis gorgeous venue is under new management and is working well. There are a choice of indoor or outdoor seating with both spots nicely decorated. A friendly greeting set the tone for a lovely lunch experience.
Coffee was the nicest I’d had in a while but was $5.50!
The menu offered a good range of types of dishes with one or two choices in each category across entree and mains, extra vegetarian options too. Ordering was flexible and we chose 3 entrees between the two of us. Service was proactive, nicely paced and unobtrusive. The dishes themselves were well presented, hot, and tastily different.
Would recommend for the occasional step up from your average lunch spot.Written 20 June 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Irene W2 contributionsLovely serene establishment with experienced staff.
I went for a Brazilian Sugar Wax which was expertly done.
I have no issue with the staff or the treatment but the cost absolutely floored me - $84.00 for less than a half hour which included a glass of water.
I haven't been there for ages but that increase will prevent me from returning.Written 4 January 2020This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
