Aosta / region in early june

Visiting 8/9 June and hoping to stay somewhere where we can take a lift or gondola to visit the mountains, are any open yet for summer season at that time? Where might be advisable, or is there a region to stay with easy-ish walks with nice views

You’ll be early in season, so some of the higher lifts may not be open - for example the big Mont Blanc lift from Courmayer tends to open late May whereas the Pila lift nearer Aosta won’t open until late June. So when you’re looking for places to stay, check the nearby lift opening dates as a guide to when the summer season starts. Weather wise, most recent years have seen less snow hanging about in the late spring, so hiking has become easier early in season than it used to be. This year so far is mixed, but it’s beginning to warm up now.

The only cable car open at the time of your visit (and the most scenic one for that matter) is the Skyway in Courmayeur - see https://www.montebianco.com/en

For tips and info on various activities, consult the helpful tourist info website run by the regional government at https://www.lovevda.it/en
