We hiked the Bluff Trail from Craven's House to Sunset Point- not easy, but not hard, and it was about 2 hours at a leisurely pace. After reading reviews and our own experience, this is the way to go if you don't want to deal with parking issues. However, it does get crowded at sunset, so plan accordingly. We didn't stay to hang out, but we did get pics and took it all in for a few minutes. If you don't care about sunset pics or the hike, this a great area for the stunning views!

Great hard hike from Cravens House up to Sunset Rock. The trail we took back was much easier which I was thankful for. Took us almost 3 hours long trip with many stop to admire the views.

Hidden gem! A friend who lived in the area told us about this one. Don’t follow GPS or anything you find on google. Head down West Brow, and you will find a sign (about 3’x3’) with a small 9 spot parking lot with a short trail (less than 5 minute walk) to the viewing location. You could walk a much longer (1 mile+) trail, but we were too spent from other hikes to make the longer journey. Very beautiful when we went (beginning of November)

Gorgeous view after a very short hike down from the parking lot. Be sure to park in lot or at Point Park or the Town Commons, or you will get a parking ticket.

This place has a great view, and a great story. But the parking lot is small, the signage is weak, and trying to figure out where the hiking paths are and how to get to them is impossible. The once we found were steep, rocky and didn't feel entirely safe. Not a great pace for kids, as it would not be safe, unless they were well under control. Nice place for couples who have good mobility. But not an appropriate place for anyone who has bad knees or doesn't have the stamina to climb up and down a long series of uneven stone steps.

It’s a short walk to the overlook, but it is kind of steep. This is a beautiful place to take photos. I had my bridal portraits photographed here. A must-see if you’re in the Chattanooga area. Parking is very limited (no charge for parking); you may end up parking somewhere else and walking to Sunset Rock.

I come to the point park area of lookout mountain nearly every time I pass through the area. It is a great place to relax, get gentle exercise, enjoy a cigar outdoors and see breath taking views. Sunset on the west side at this rock is really relaxing. Driving back down the windy road just after dark is a little bit of a pain, but worth the effort! Be prepared for uneven surfaces and no grab rail on steps, but by doing that trail, you will be rewarded with many spectacular views.

This is another gem on Lookout Mtn. It's a steep walk down to it but worth it. If you have more time the hiking is good.Parking is very limited and the town has become very strict on parking on road.

We were visiting Ruby Falls and were told we could drive up to the top of the mountain. Its about three miles past Ruby Falls on your left. You’ll see the small parking lot and the Sunset Rock sign. It’s beautiful! It’s a short walk down with stone steps. Definitely a must see! And great photo opportunities.
