Hilltop Senior High School Reviews
Rating 3.59 out of 5 444 reviews
Hilltop High offers plenty of advance placement classes to get one college-ready. There's sports medicine, computer science, engineering, graphic design, food and hospitality technical career paths that allow us to explore career inclinations, allowing us to have a clearer vision for our future career pursuit. Teachers are well-seasoned but not too much that they've lost zest for teaching. I've had great experiences with all my teachers the four years there. Football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse, cross-country, swimming, baseball and golf are the most popular sports. In terms of clubs and resources, there's plenty of extracurricular activities for all. Yearbook and ASB are popular and the ASB Dean, Mr. Carpizo is super cool and involved. Counselors and lead teachers always make school, college and volunteering opportunities available. Peer and teacher tutoring offered often. The best principal we've ever had, supportive of sports and academics, is Mr. Walsh. He rocks!
My overall experience with Hilltop Senior High School was bittersweet. Academically, they lacked commitment and connection with their students. Not a lot of the teachers realize being a teacher in high school isn't easy, and many get frustrated quickly and lash out on their students. Many teachers do allow late work and after school detention for help. Athletically, this school is very sports driven, but unfortunately there is favoritism, this affects the money and equipment given to some sports. For example, the cheer team got 1 bus last year, while someone paid for the boys football team all away games. Socially, Hilltop is very welcoming and students are nice. It's just important to become friends with the right people and stay away from the people that will badly influence you. Overall, I enjoyed high school, while it has its bad sides, every high school does and its ultimately what you do with that, I involved myself academically and athletically and it gave me a great experience.
In the two years that I have attended Hilltop High School, I have taken advantage of the many AP classes offered. I have had great experiences with the teachers, and there are many opportunities for outreach such as tutoring. The changes I would like to see are for all the bathrooms on campus to be open at the same time, as well as allowing students to order food delivery to the school.
