Tustin High School Reviews
Rating 3.92 out of 5 448 reviews
My freshman year, I transferred to Tustin High School and knew almost no one. It was not too difficult for me to feel included at school and make friends. I like how the school respects the cultures and beliefs of all people. I generally feel heard and included. The majority of teachers genuinely care about their students and want what's best for them. If I could change anything, it would be to provide more financing for lesser-known sports. When I was in varsity tennis and softball, both teams were on the hunt for funds to repair the court and field, with virtually nothing leftover. Overall, I am quite happy at the school I am at, and would not want to go anywhere else.
The best aspects of Tustin High School that I have experienced are the facilities. Its relatively new gym provides indoor sports teams like volleyball and basketball with an excellent space to practice. Another great aspect of the school are the tightly knit friend groups that are formed due to the lack of diversity. Being a primarily Mexican school, when you find others that relate to you, it becomes seemingly easy to make new friends. The worst aspect of the school however, is the level of academics. Much like any other school, there are good and bad teachers. For example the math department has a couple teachers who don't do their job very well while on the other end the higher level math teachers do an extremely good job at introducing and teaching their courses.
I find it hard to trust the staff here, my girlfriend was on a call in the office and was told to turn off her "video". She then did, only for that counselor to close the door anyway. She was on a call with her mom who is currently in Canada and hasn't been able to see her daughter for over a year. Most people in the offices are plain rude, it reminds me of the DMV. I once went to attendance and was trying to have a discussion to resolve my problem but not only did she not stand to get closer, she seemed to be annoyed by the fact that we tried to clear absences without our parents since we were 18. I looked it up beforehand and learned that although 18-year-olds in high school aren't emancipated, they are still given certain rights as an adult such as clearing absences. We ended up leaving since we didn't have my girlfriend's ID, not looking forward to going back. There is also this guy who works as a soccer coach. He is apparently racist toward Colombians and is plain creepy.
