I’ve always loved going to this zoo while my children were young. This visit changed all that. It was a hot day during the first heat wave of the year and those poor animals were all feeling the heat. Little to no water for them to enjoy. One bear cage had a pool that one bear was enjoying but all the other animals, omg. This place has been open for so many years. A little money spent to update these cages would be wonderful. As well as removing the rotting meat laying in the heat that even the animals don’t care to eat. Just disgusting.

Had a really nice afternoon over at the Sussex sunflower maze and decided to go to this zoo after since it was close by. It was definitely a downer, my friends and I all left feeling really sad and guilty for going. It was so hard to see some of these beautiful animals in such small, basic enclosures.
The lion and tiger enclosure was so small with nothing in there to even somewhat simulate their natural environment or keep them simulated. The wolves looked malnourished, there was a pony that had an open gash of some sort near the base of its tail that I would hope was being treated but who knows. There was also a 16 ft. snake that was being kept in a case that seemed way too small for its size. Most of the animals looked miserable. I also can’t imagine dried corn and animal crackers are actually good for these animals to eat regularly?
Overall a really depressing experience. I know this place has been around a long time but times have changed and this place has certainly not kept up. Please save your money if you actually care about animals.

I am 67 years old and took my daughter now age 27 up there last year for the first time . What a Great place , where have we been all these years . We are animal people and realize these beautiful creatures of God are on display for all to see up close . If they were in larger cages they would be out of sight and people would feel ripped off as they did not get to see the animals they came to see . We have many animals in our home and feed about 12 feral outdoor cats twice a day every day . We took all the cats to be Neutered and Spaded and they are free to go where ever they want in this world . They choose to just hang out on and under our deck . The dogs get along with them and they all play and hang together. I call them by name and they come running to greet us. The animals in the zoo adapt to predator's around them as well, they are very smart . All are well taken care of and fed on a schedule. I did not see any poop in any of the cages .
Keep up the Great work ! We Love this place !

I regret giving this place business. Truly depressing as the animals are kept in small cages that seem unfit for their size. Lions and bears given such a small area of land, or natural terrain inside their enclosure. They sell animal crackers to “feed” aka throw at bears and monkeys. The worst part is to get to the zoo, you need to walk past the Space Family trophy wall of wild animals that have been hunted and stuffed. I’m not talking a deer head or goose, but lions and polar bears - tons of dead animals. Did not come across to me as a farm run by animal lovers. Super curious how they have managed to remain open.

I visited the Space Farms Zoo a few weeks ago and the place is very depressing. Most animal enclosures were pretty small with no shade. Many animals did not have access to clean water either. A lot of animals were obese - some of the animals could barely move.

Thank you for a wonderful day !! So much fun seeing these majestic animals in such a beautiful setting. Have been here many times before and this was my birthday and I took my mother.
The owners are a family that pour their heart into taking care of the Zoo and Museum. Several generations were present the day I was there. The museum is also very enriching. Unlike other zoos, there are lots of opportunities to interact up close with the animals. Go and stretch your legs with lots of walking in the Country setting. Had a blast and lots of laughs, thanks again !!

My daughter and I took my husband to Space Farms for Father's Day. The museums were some of the best I have visited in our country. What an incredible collection.

I have no idea what the other reviews were referring to when they gave negative reviews about the animals. I worked for a couple years at a busy wildlife rescue. I thought the enclosures were good. All the animals looked well fed and cared for. My husband grew up on a small farm and he thought the same as I did.

I would recommend Space Farms Zoo & Museum to anyone looking for a great day trip.

I was reading the reviews and thought I would be disappointed or upset about animals not treated well, but those ridiculous reviews are completely false! I took my daughter upon someone's recommendation and I was so happy we went. This was such an awesome place. So many species of animals, all taken care of well. We watched most animals being fed, we got to feed some animals snacks, the enclosures were large and it was well maintained. It was such a great place for a family to visit. I don't want to give anything away, but you'll be surprised by some of the animals you will see at this zoo. If you have the opportunity, this is a must see. Enjoy the day. You may miss animals the first time around, so go through again. Lol.

I rarely write reviews but my conscience compelled me after coming here . The small animals and farm animals are fine however this is no place for exotic animals like bears tigers lions .. they are in cramped old cages with no stimulation out in the hot sun . I felt so sorry for them . This zoo needs to be closed or maybe refurbished in a way that respects these animals . Very sad

I visited space farms and left in tears after what I saw. It is our admiration for these majestic creatures that brought us to this terrible place. Everywhere you look there are stark and confronting examples of animals in squalid, cramped conditions. If we can’t save the habitat of these endangered species this is not the answer. Their lives are simply rotting away on slabs on concrete. Where the big cats have no shade from the sun, and absolutely no room to exercise. Their muscles are deteriorating along with their health, spirit and everything that makes them the majestic beings we all came to see. Shame on New Jersey legislators for putting the public’s health at risk and for allowing our children to see such a place.
