HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS & SUITES EAST LANSING, AN IHG HOTEL - Prices & Reviews (MI)
Enjoy Your Stay in the Capital City at Our East Lansing Hotel. Located on the banks of the Grand River and less than two hours from Detroit, Lansing is a city with much to offer. Leisure and business travelers alike will be able to enjoy a culturally diverse city that is just outside the door of the beautifully landscaped Holiday Inn Express® Hotel & Suites East Lansing. Our newly renovated hotel is near MSU, a major public university with more than 46,000 students. If your trip is business-oriented you'll appreciate our Lansing hotel's proximity to major companies like General Motors, IBM and AT&T. At our 24-hour business center, you can fax, copy or print anything you may need at the last minute and if you need to host a small meeting, our 300-sq ft room seats 15 people. Despite being Michigan's capital and home to major industries, Lansing is also a place to have fun.
Finding the hotel was frustrating, especially at the end of a long day's drive. I saw no sign - to the hotel, or even to the road on which it is situated. Hint: as soon as you come off US 127, take the first turn north, about half a block between the ramp and the intersection with a traffic light. If you find yourself facing a Burger King, you are on your way. Turn left in front of Burger King and follow the road around the corner. The hotel faces a church, which backs onto US 127. (I followed my GPS, which had me turn at the light and backtrack by dumpsters. Not a good start.) The hotel itself was fine. I had assumed all Holiday Inn Expresses had the same facilities. Unlike one I had stayed in a few days earlier, this one had no fridge in the room, but its bathroom was larger…

This is a fairly typical Holiday Inn Express and we've stayed at several over the years. It was difficult to find initially and is located behind several buildings including a Kroger store. We stayed on a Saturday night in January just before an MSU v UofM basketball game. I didn't make it down to the breakfast room but my son-in-law said the pickings were pretty slim. That said, the room was a king suite and was very comfortable. A nice TV with a sofa to sit on. The bed was very nice. This is a typical HIE experience and our rate was fairly reasonable. It's close to an open air mall (across the expressway) with a number of restaurant choices. I would go back.

I personally do not understand why the overall rating of this HI is not higher. My husband and I recently were guests for three nights and four days while in E. Lansing for a family wedding. The hotel was clean and had all the amenities that we needed. A small refrigerator would have been a plus, but was not sorely missed. The staff was courteous and the hotel was quiet. Breakfast was average, which is to be expected in chain hotels these days. Who among us has had a really good breakfast while traveling ( exception of a B &B )? One thing that might be noted is that this hotel is not easy to find. Getting on the right access road is a challenge, so using a GPS would be helpful.

I travel back to East Lansing, MI often. This is one of the two hotels I like to stay at when visiting family. The hotel is clean, the staff is friendly the rates are reasonable. It's close to the highway and campus.

This was the first time that a H.I. Express did not have a refrigerator in the room. The breakfast was ok. the fruit was not fresh. there were lots restaurants nearby and shopping. close to the college. Standards to other H.I Express that we have stayed in was disappointing for us. We recommended H.I. express for our family members (coming up from Indiana) to stay while we visited the college and they were not impressed.

I enjoyed my stay here for the U-M game in November 2013. Spaceous rooms, friendly service, decent room amenities. It's close to a nice outdoor mall with good stores and restaurants. Not as far from campus as I thought, plus less congested and easier to get into town on game day from the north rather than from the south (Okemos). The mattress was just OK - which is why I gave it three stars. Liked the free breakfast, too. A winner!

I had a trip planned to East Lansing to watch my son's college football team. When we found out he would not be playing on the Sunday before I decided to cancel the trip(5 days advance notice). Why spend all that time traveling to watch him stand the sideline. I cancelled online as I had made my reservations online. Shortly after I got an email stating I would not be getting a refund!!! I have a confirmation email stating it was a refundable room. I called Holiday Inn Express to be told I booked through Expedia. I called Expedia to be told it wasn't through them. Finally contacted bookings.com to be told they had to have a supervisor call HI to ask not to be charged, then they would not charge me. The individual would not accept my confirmation that said the room was…

What a great find we had no reservations. Walked in to see what they had open Barry at the front desk was fantastic! So helpful offered a free pass for mini golf (his own from his wallet) talk about above and beyond. My husband had our room keys near his cell phone case and they wouldn't work after being near the magnet. Barry apologized for the incovience of us having to go back to the desk for them to be reprogrammed. People like Barry who Go above and beyond make traveling fun and Michigan should be proud of its residents mostly very friendly. Will be back. Thanks Barry :)

The hotel has friendly and efficient staff. The location is off a main road a few blocks so it not noisy. In fact I had a very quiet room on the third (top) floor. The breakfast in the morning was the average Holiday Inn Express fare. The coffee at breakfast was better than most hotel coffee. The room was plain but clean. They have free wireless WIFI that worked but was slow.

Hi Curtis! I had my car and the great staff there gave me directions to go back streets to avoid traffic. I did not see any shuttles but there may be a way to arrange one with the front desk. It took about 15 minutes to get to the MSU campus from the hotel by the back streets.
