- Freedom06837808495Newington, CT1 contributionThis Honey Pecan rum i by far the BEST rum I have ever tasted! It's so good you can sip it over ice!!! I just ordered 3 bottles from cellar.com - almost 8 months after my visit last year because it sells out so fast!!! I can't wait to get it and make the Figgin Old Fashioned and Devil Killer drinks!!! Amazing stuff, a great place to visit, and friendly people! Thanks!!!Written January 16, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - TravelHer14 contributionsThis outdoor drama about the first English settlement on NCs coast has preserved the original 1935 play enhanced by 21st century theatrical techniques. Situated in an amphitheatre at the water's edge and secluded in a small wooded parkland, you'll forget your place in the modern world and become enmeshed in the struggles of these brave colonists. Be sure to eat before you go; the snack options are slim. You won't need sunscreen for the after-dark performance, but you will want mosquito repellant. And you might want to take a nap in the afternoon if you're accustomed to an early bedtime!Written August 26, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - HistoryLover2017North Carolina534 contributionsI just volunteered for Christmas on the North End at Island Farm, and I continue to be amazed at the great events there! I enjoy volunteering and I enjoy attending what Island Farm has to offer. Last night the farm was decorated for Christmas, serving apple cider and Jumble Cookies, offering candle making and wreath making along with rides in a wagon pulled by a mule, a cellist and fiddler playing Christmas songs on the back porch of the farmhouse while a 19th century style Santa was sitting in the farmhouse. As the sun went down, lanterns were lit and the campfires also provided light. It was a very peaceful atmosphere and both children and adults enjoyed the evening.Written December 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Tom EDurham, NC1 contributionWe stopped at Fort Raleigh on the way back from the coast, and learned quite a bit about the people who spent time in the area and their history. This includes the Lost Colony, but also the culture of the Carolina Algonquian.
I highly recommend the ranger talk that Mona offers about the Freedmen colony that existed there. She brings much passion and deep knowledge about the colony, sharing a part of the island’s history that more people should know about.

You can walk throughout the ship and see the tight quarters. Docents are on the main deck and lower deck to help explain the history. Easy walk from the parking lot. A must see!Written November 2, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
- rhundt67Milwaukee, WI386 contributionsThis is a little stop when you are in the downtown area. We went as the sun was setting and the views were amazing. You can see the various areas surrounding the town and is near shops, breweries, restaurants, and ice cream parlors. Worth the stop.Written February 6, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.

- Lisa JPlant City, FL937 contributionsWe stoped to get information on the refuge. The very nice lady told us all about the refuge and where we might see bear. We drove right were she told us and we saw one bear sitting just off the road in the trees. We sat there for about 5min and he never moved, just sitting there looking at us also.Written December 22, 2022This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - Anonymous10 contributionsLocated in the historic courthouse of Dare County this is a beautifully used gallery space. Two rotating exhibitions rooms offers visitors something new to see each time they come in. Very obviously a flourishing organization. Staff is friendly. Would recommend anyone in Manteo for the day to stop in.Written August 18, 2023This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. - GlennMount Airy, NC1 contributionThe town of Manteo was beautiful, but be advised that everything happening is happening across the sound. They roll the sidewalks up at 5pm, they have two places to eat which were very good. It's a quiet place and a piece full!Written April 26, 2024This review is the subjective opinion of a Tripadvisor member and not of Tripadvisor LLC. Tripadvisor performs checks on reviews.
