School Profile

Together, the College of Saint Benedict (CSB) and Saint John’s University (SJU) form a unique partnership of two of the leading liberal arts institutions in the United States.  With an undergraduate enrollment of 3,100 students, CSB+SJU combine the opportunities of large, research universities with the faculty attention, engaging classrooms and academic challenges of smaller, selective schools.  

Nearly all students live on campus in order to experience our excellent residential life programming, facilities, activities and community—thereby creating a lifelong network of friendships, connections and opportunities. Women live at CSB and men live at SJU The campuses are located about nine kilometers apart and are connected by a free, convenient and frequent shuttle bus service. 

CSB+SJU students share the two campuses and one combined academic curriculum—students from both campuses attend classes together and use the academic facilities, dining halls, fine arts facilities, libraries and athletic centers on both campuses.  

CSB+SJU attract students from around the world who are seeking an excellent education, and attract globally-minded U.S. students who welcome the opportunity to form friendships with students from other countries. Our graduates are prepared to work and live in a global society.

Campus Life

Nearly all students live on campus in order to experience our excellent residential life programming, facilities, activities and community—thereby creating a lifelong network of friendships, connections and opportunities.  Women live at CSB and men live at SJU. The campuses are located about nine kilometers (8-10 minutes) apart and are connected by a free, convenient and frequent shuttle bus service. 

CSB students (also known as a Bennies), will be empowered by an amazing and supportive community of strong women. 

SJU students (also known as Johnnies) will experience a unique brotherhood that makes their best times better and their more challenging times easier to handle. These connections of Bennies and Johnnies will stay with them for a lifetime. 

CSB+SJU offers 100+ clubs, organizations, teams and ensembles with over 270 club activities each year.  We offer 24 varsity athletic teams participating in NCAA Division III, 14 competitive club sports, and excellent athletic and fitness facilities for all students to participate and stay healthy.  With over 3,300 acres of woods, lakes, hiking trails and wetlands, students can enjoy all the wonders of the outdoors.
