In 2007, a debut actor charmed his way into the hearts of Tamil audiences with the film Unnale Unnale; cut to 2024 and the same actor has captivated film buffs with his menacing performance in HanuMan. The personality who has displayed this versatile graph in his career is Vinay Rai.
In an exclusive chat with Zoom, Vinay Rai spoke to us about being a part of this year's first blockbuster film HanuMan, his trust in director Prasanth Varma and working in Telugu cinema.

Vinay Rai about the success of HanuMan

In HanuMan, directed by Prasanth Varma, the actor played the role of Michael or Mega Man, who takes on Hanumanth. Audiences seem to have found his character, a worthy opponent to the protagonist. Since its release on January 12, HanuMan has earned over Rs 250 crores at the box office - making it a sensational blockbuster.
During the interaction, we asked him about being a part of this successful venture, he said he trusted Prasanth Varma before signing on the dotted line. Vinay said "HanuMan is easily the most creative project I've been a part of. Right from the CG to the costumes, everything involved creativity. When we first began working on the project we weren't looking at the numbers so much, we knew we were making something different and now that it has received so much love, we have to thank the audience for it."
He further added, "When I first spoke to Prasanth I cleared my doubts with him about the CG work in the film, to which he said "I've won a National award for CG", so this one line added credibility to his work. When I went on the sets of the film, I felt confident. As an actor, it is quite demanding to act in front of the blue screen and perform, but when a director like Prasanth is around, he knows his craft well and the job is done. "
While Vinay Rai played the role of the antagonist, the film's lead role was played by Teja Sajja. HanuMan also starred Amrutha Ayier and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar in key roles.
