Question
I quite liked his acting in “Dazed and Confused” and I loved “Fix” but I haven’t seen anything about him anymore. From what I could find I don’t think he has social media or sorts of that. Was wondering what happened and if he just doesn’t want to act anymore and wants to live a private life and what not.

From reading The Oral History of Dazed and Confused book it seems like he was a douche that no one in the cast liked. After finishing the film he married Milla (who was 16 at the time) in Vegas, which was later annulled by her mother.
Ya this is what I read recently from an article. I have to get that book. Seems the whole cast of dazed didn't like him or them together. I also read he actually had a much bigger part in dazed but because if these issues his part was cut down or edited out and I believe both were sent home early from filming. Crazy
It is a great read. There is a whole chapter dedicated to just this topic.
They ended up giving a lot of Shawn's lines to McConaughey. Wooderson originally only had a couple lines, but Linklater loved his charisma and what he was doing with the character so he was expanded.
Both Shawn and Milla had their parts cut way down and were sent home early because of their diva antics on set.
Ya Shawn thought he was some big star on set, lol. A decent number of people from the dazed cast including Mila's career skyrocketed in the years and even decades after dazed. Shawn career seemed to hit a lull after anf not really go anywhere. I wonder once Linklater got more films in Hollywood if word got around that Shawn was trouble to work with. Who knows.
Anyways look at Cole Hauser who played a smaller but great part of the redhead football player- Benny.. actually I wouldn't call Benny's part small, he had a decent amount of lines and scenes. Anyways Cole Hauser's career seems to be hitting a nice upswing with his recent role in Yellowstone and his character-Rip is definitely a fan favorite in that show. I'm sure he's going to land some great roles in upcoming years, I think he's a great and somewhat underatted actor.
It's crazy to think the amount of talented actors on the set of Dazed, basically in the dawn of their careers not knowing what great things and monumental achievements lie ahead of them...they were just some kids having fun, most doing their first movie.
Wow yeah I read the oral book and I was quite surprised that they were divas, especially Shawn hahaha but you’re right, so much talent came out of Dazed And Confused. And yeah I wouldn’t be surprised if Linklater did say things about Shawn being a diva to work with lol it also doesn’t help Shawn that they got married when Mila was WAY under aged. Yikes hahaha

Shawn is a friend of mine. He is not on social media. He is one of the nicest sweetest gentle hearted person. He takes his craft serious. He should have been nominated for award for FiX. Him and Olivia Wilde did an amazing job.

I’m responding a year later but that’s cool to hear. He sounded very humble in a recent interview I listened to. I always wondered what happened to him. I know he did win some film festival award for Fix. So it’s surprising kind of disappeared after that.
He has a band and they've done some shows.

I listened to a similar interview from this time frame. I’m glad to hear he’s doing well. I loved his character and have always been intrigued by him as an actor in part because of how he just disappeared. I liked his new single too.
