Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes: Is Noa Related to Caesar or Cornelius?

The latest entry in the Planet of the Apes franchise, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, takes place generations after the era of Caesar. The movie introduces a lot of new characters, with Noa, the son of the Eagle Clan’s leader, taking center stage. With the courageous chimpanzee showcasing his leadership skills in the movie, fans have been wondering if Noa is actually a descendant of Caesar and Cornelius.

Here’s everything you need to know about Noa’s lineage and whether he shares blood with Caesar.

Is Noa a descendant of Caesar and Cornelius in Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes?

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes’ Noa was seen sporting many similarities to Caesar, causing fans to speculate whether the new protagonist shared ancestry with the legendary general. However, the film has shied away from shedding much light on the Eagle Clan’s ancestral history. It neither confirms nor denies Noa’s links to Caesar.

The end of War for the Planet of the Apes saw the death of Caesar, leaving his son, Cornelius, to carry on his father’s legacy. The details of Cornelius’ life after Caesar’s death are still unknown but it is possible that the ape branched out and established a society based on his father’s ideals. Moreover, the Eagle Clan’s compassion and mutual respect for their compatriots exhibit parallels to Caesar’s school of thinking. The most compelling evidence suggesting Noa and Caesar’s linked heritage is their physical appearance. Both apes have a similar facial structure and fur color, as well as a common birthmark, leading fans to assume there is a genetic connection between the two. Although the movie doesn’t confirm the link, these similarities hint that Noa could be Caeser’s descendant.

An absence of information regarding the two protagonists’ connection could well be a creative decision. The filmmakers could use this detail to build a dramatic reveal in the later entries of the franchise. Irrespective of his actual lineage, Noa has a strikingly similar thought process to that of Caesar. So, he is on track to become Caesar’s spiritual successor at the very least.
