John Burroughs is a vibrant high school and tight-knit community with diverse extracurricular opportunities. Despite being a senior, this is my 1st year here after transferring from my previous school. While school life has been enjoyable, I faced a significant challenge with my health during 1st semester. A blockage in my left ureter, a medical issue due to a birth defect that worsened over time, resulted in numerous hospitalizations and missed school days. After undergoing surgery, I focused on recovery with an eagerness to return to classes. School administration and teachers were extremely supportive throughout my health hardship which allowed me to stay on track with my coursework. The school facilitated a medical plan which afforded me specific accommodations to take time off school and upon my return allowed for safety considerations due to my delicate state. Although this is my only year at Burroughs HS, I will always be grateful for the care that the community conveyed to me.
While I was at John Burroughs High School, I have loved the social aspect and experiences that I have had here. However I do think that there needs to be some serious changes that have to do with the education and teacher at this school. Over the last 4 years I have only had a very small amount of teacher who truly enjoyed what they do and have thought me well. I loved the sports and the arts programs at burroughs but would not recommend the academics when talking about the school.
I have loved going to my school! There are some not great stuff and I mad with kids smoking pot. There is also that they don’t offer some programs that schools around do and they offer other stuff others don’t just go keep in mind.
