Considering that East is the biggest school here, it has a lot of diversity. Everyone is involved in some sort of club or program. Most teachers are actual advocates for their student´s well beings. The pep rallies are always so big and festive. A lot of seniors this year are actually planning to go to college after this which means East and it´s advisors prepared us well. I think the safety has gotten better overtime thanks to the installed scanners. Overall, East is a very good school with good teachers, good involvement, and very advanced courses.
The faculty and staff are overall good. On the flipside, we often get school threats and the building is very old making it susceptible to a lot of damages.
My experience being a student at Wichita High School East has been a generally exciting high school experience. I've been involved in multiple clubs and programs through the school including AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), Eco Club/ Bluestem Farm, and SAP (Students Against Prejudice). Programs like these have allowed me and many other students to be able to get involved in their school community as well as the Wichita community. Our student population is highly diverse with people from all different backgrounds which allows students to get a peek at the world as a whole just by attending school. During my time attending East High School there have been multiple lockdowns. These range in severity with some situations being immediate threats and others not so immediate. This problem has been taken into consideration with scanners being places at all entrances to the building. Overall, Wichita High School East offers an inclusive, diverse, and welcoming school atmosphere.
