My flight in Kingston Jamaica on the 27th November 2023 got canceled, and I was accommodated by the airline very late at The Jamaica Pegasus. It was a great inconvenience, but the short stay made me forget the rough day i had.
Way to go, Pegasus

The Management and Team at The Jamaica Pegasus have been making our long stay (30 days and counting..) an amazing experience, really making this our home away from home. The friendly and warm service really make you welcome everyday. The room is impeccably attended to, and the views of the city and coastline make an incredible dinner backdrop. We also took up the kind offer for a personalised dinner, and the culinary experience continues to exceed all expectations.

Although our group were not staying guests at the Pegasus, we were very kindly hosted for lunch whilst our tour visited this amazing & gorgeous city.

We were met by a staff member who checked our temperatures and provided hand sanitising - along with face covering requirements, very nice to see, given the current situation.

We were escorted to our dining area by very pleasant staff, who continued to provide a high standard of service and ensured all guests in our party were well attended. The cuisine was at another level........ Jamaican, well presented, nice choice & gloriously tasty.

We (my wife and I) left very satisfied and would definately consider (and recommend) staying if we were to visit the area again.

I visited this hotel for a short period in February and found it tired and dated. The check is was painfully slow taking an age to get our rooms. The rooms were comfortable, with a nice bed and good aircon.
Trying to get served at the pool bar, despite there being plenty of staff and not that many customers, was ridiculously slow. So much so that we moved to the inside bar. A shame as I would have been nice to get a little air after a long day. Service at the inside bar was very good, with France, the barman, being extremely attentive.
The bar menu appeared good and haven ordered Jerk Chicken I waited in anticipation for a Jamaican classic. What was served however, was nothing near my expectations. Poor quality meat with an even worse “jerk” seasoning with little to no spice. The rice and bean were similarly bland and lukewarm. The nachos, ordered by others in our group, were, frankly, a disgrace. Doritos tipped onto a plate with cold cheese style sauce poured on top was awful.
Breakfast was a welcome surprise. Cheery staff, particularly the lady on the egg station, made for a nice morning. The Ackee and salt fish was excellent with lots of scotch bonnet available. A fantastic ham and a wide selection of breads made for a superb start.
Overall a poor experience at a tired and dated hotel. Ok for a quick night stop but you would be very disappointed if you’d booked a longer stay. Well done to France and the lovely lady at the breakfast egg station.

I'm not one to write reviews, but I truly believe my experience with The Jamaica Pegasus Hotel is one to share. After staying at this hotel on my third visit and being someone that is very particular to cleanliness I have to say I'm very impressed with how they keep this property clean and up to date with all the COVID19 practices. My room was cleaned every day during my stay and each time I went off the property I was greeted by a pleasant gentleman who would ensure that anyone who is entering would get there hands sanitized and there temperature checked. From the security to the front desk staffing they went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of. Thanks to Marcia and Richard among all the other team members for being very professional in their attentiveness to customer service.

The experience was warm and made visitors feel quite at home and relaxed. The service was impeccable. One could say that each guest was treated like 'royalty'. With the first class experience making me reconsider ever choosing another competitor. I must express my sincere gratitude for all the attention I received during my stay. The manager, Afreeka, made my trip delightful. Thank you for the outstanding customer service.

I've stayed here before thought it was a safe bet when returning on business during Covid.
All precautions are taken at the hotel which i liked. From temperature & hand sanitizing at front door to social distancing at front desk check in.
It's an older established hotel with a loyal local and foreign following, but lots of lovely modernity in the lobby area.
The rooms aren't very spacious but they have a classic charm, clean and safe and decent furnishings.
The location is excellent in business area of New Kingston, there's a great little pool area, small but adequate gym and pleasant safe back garden to walk/sit in.
Excellent coffee shop/cafe in the lobby for business meetings and one of the best buffet breakfasts in town on the lower level and cool and stylish new bar.
Staff are fantastic, they remember you from your previous visit and address you by name, couldn't be a nicer welcome.

The small improvements I would suggest:
Having to quarantine for first 48hrs i would have appreciated room service menu's printed and left in the room and not this scan at front dest a QR code. Like to see a paper menu especially when am tire and not squint my phone (maybe am just too old!).
I requested a balcony room as I knew I had to stay in the room, but the french windows to balcony were very dirty, wouldn't take much to clean them especially while occupancy is lower.
The white 'leather' office chair in the room looked grubby, it's hard to keep this color looking sharp but they should all be scrubbed down/steam cleaned.
The safe in my room wasn't digital (was card key) and didn't work. I called down and front desk had maintenance there immediately to swap out. (Things like this detail should be checked before a guest arrives)
There's a clock radio in the room which didn't have the correct time, travellers don't have time or patience to figure out, housekeeping should check this is done
The hotel wasn't to capacity but i did notice most guests were put on the same floor which for me meant a screaming baby next room while i was working. It was so kind of front desk to swap out my room to a more empty floor but might be a good idea when the hotel isn't full occupancy to space out guests especially if they are business traveller and families with young children.
Downstairs shop had no contact lens solution would have been good item for that shop to stock
i would have gladly paid for more snacks/items to have in my room during quarantine had they been offered, just a thought of upselling guests with a quarantine basket.
lastly, the Ice machine on my floor by the freight elevator wasn't working and that whole back area was an insightly shambles of ole mattresses and garbage

I am a very picky traveller, but overall I'm always pleased with the Jamaica Pegaus as their staff are always very friendly and the food there always good and it really is a classic Jamaican hotel! I just think with a few more tweaks it could be even better!

We stayed at the Pegasus in Kingston for 2 nights, the hotel is sort of nice but it's an old hotel and to us, it's just a standard western hotel with decent facilities.

Breakfast was average, not a lot of options to choose from, they did change some items the 2 days we were there but it seemed to be the same thing pretty much.

They advertise this as a place to work from during covid, yet the internet is very weak, you are able to send and receive emails but you can forget about reliable zoom meetings...

Our really bad experience with this hotel was in terms of safety, we approached the front desk to get some assistance in getting a cab as we had somewhere to be that day in Kingston, the first response from the lady was that she couldn't help us at all not even in giving a recommendation on to what kind of taxi to take as if we got in trouble the hotel was not willing to assume any responsibilities, that was honestly very scary to hear. I can't really understand what kind of hotel (among the expensive ones in the city) does not have a reliable taxi driver list to provide their guests with a safe option, never in my life have stayed at a hotel that couldn't call me a taxi.

The story gets even grosser once after telling us how they didn't want to help us in getting a taxi, there was someone outside that could drive us, very confused we accepted. Turns out this guy charged us 50 USD for a less than 30 min back and forth ride to a place in Kingston, we were obviously crazy ripped off. We later learned this wasn't even a taxi, it was some sort of shuttle service the hotel had, no one even gave us a warning. Disgusting service, after this awful experience we booked ourselves a night at a different hotel (Spanish Court, which I recommend way more than this sketchy Pegasus hotel).

My advice to this hotel is to get a list of reliable taxi drivers, it is absolute nonsense to not have the option to assist guests in getting a decent taxi that isn't a rip-off, we would have stayed more nights at the pegasus if it wasn't for this terrible experience.

The hotel is also not very close to anything, there aren't grocery stores super close or any small store either so honestly not very convenient for a city where walking isn't really ideal (or safe).

The only good thing about this hotel is the view from the higher floors that overlook the ocean and the park, other than that it's not worth it, book at a nicer hotel for the same price like we did, I assure you your stay will be better.

Dear Isilala, I am sorry to hear that you had some problems with the taxi service. Our bellman is available to help all the time. We have reliable taxi sitting at the hotel most of the time and if our bellman is not on duty a security guard is there 24/7 to help you. Regarding a grocery store or a supermarket, there is one only a 5 min walk. Other retail stores are just a short 2 block walk. Again we appoagise for not getting a reliable taxi driver. We will look into what taxi service you had. Best, Management

This review may be lengthy but I'm going to leave as much detail as possible.
My family and I decided to stay at the Pegasus Hotel due to family already staying in this hotel.
When we first pulled in we did notice they have a security guard in the parking lot where are you park which was nice to know that our car would be secured. Upon entering the hotel it does look exactly like the pictures listed online. My husband and I checked in and that was a good experience but that is where the good experience ends and I would not recommend nor stay here again due to security issues..
As we had reservations for room 10-329 we place our bags in the room turn the air conditioner on and left for the day. Returning for the evening around 8pm we noticed as soon as we came in the room the air conditioner was sitting on 75 degrees. I had called the front desk spoke with the manager and she had sent maintenance to the room. He stated that it's an older hotel and most of the air conditioning works between 72 to 75. The front desk manager on duty stated she can move us to the 8th floor and would try the air conditioning there before moving us to make sure it was getting cooler, 15 minutes later she called the room and stated we would have to move to the 6th floor because that room wasn't cooling either. She stated she would call the Bellman to bring up a trolley to move our things downstairs and that was at 8:20 p.m. after waiting 45 minutes I called the front desk again and she stated she forgot to let the "Bellmsn know" and he would be on his way. Finally, we got checked into room 6-328. We unpacked our belongings and we're settling in for the evening. I decided to take a bath while my husband was downstairs with his family. Not soon after I got in the tub I heard the locked door opening and a man that had checked into the hotel was walking in with his bags. He apologized immensely and turned around and left the room. I instantly got out of the tub locked the door and called the front desk at which time I was placed on hold for 10 minutes. So I decided to go downstairs and as I'm walking down the hallway the manager named Damion met me in the hallway. He started to explain how they're having trouble with their computers and it was not in the system that my room was moved. And that he could not apologize enough for the front desk giving the same room to separate parties and they would have an IT Tech address the issue and kept trying to assure me has never happened before and it wouldn't happen again.

But as an avid traveler, traveling all over the world I've never had a hotel where I did not feel secure but this is definitely the first one.

This hotel is purely for efficiency and location. The service is lacking, they are always out of food, the rooms need upgrading and if you want a decent shower take one before you arrive.

This is not a 4-star hotel by any means. I was willing to overlook the outdated rooms until the service went on a complete decline and I found myself frustrated and missing meetings.

The staff at the 24/7 cafe and the bar are the only ones who were polite and service oriented.

Forget the restaurant in the lower level, just opt for another option.

I called because I had an issue with my internet and the woman on the phone, who I believe was the manager was rude and her tone was almost irritated that I would dare ask for help.

I extended my stay one night and was made to check out and check back in. I have NEVER had to do this at other hotels when I extend my stay. In the time it took to get things rectified, I missed a meeting at the office.

Had I had known about the AC hotel prior to arriving, I would’ve stayed there.

The only pro is that it was clean.

Went to Kingston for a small wedding gathering of friends, and stayed at the Jamaica Pegasus. The hotel boasts that it is Kingston’s premiere hotel - and rightfully so!
From the greeting at the bell desk by Al and the excellent service at the front desk by Afreeka, I was escorted professionally to my room which was perfectly clean and well equipped. The WiFi worked all over the property which was essential to me.
One of the several great things about the Pegasus is the 24 hour cafe which produces freshly made food all day and night by a staff who obviously enjoy their profession as the smile is always evident!!
Breakfast - included in the price - changes daily with always a Jamaican dish which every visitor should sample. The salt fish and ackee is out of this world!!
I sampled the Pegasus Burger at the Blend Bar one evening which was delicious and perfectly prepared, accompanied by an ice cold Red Stripe!!
Though I did not have the time to savor all its offerings, there are ample food and beverage outlets to choose from. The pool bar is on my bucket list for my next visit, as week as their well equipped Fitness Center on the 1st floor and the Spa which looked so inviting!!
Definitely a 5 star experience!! Great job by all the team!!
