Terminal List Season 2 Renewal Teased By Chris Pratt & Jack Carr

Summary

  • The Terminal List season 2 has been confirmed as well as a prequel spinoff, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf.
  • Actor JD Pardo, who plays FBI Agent Layun, discussed his absence in prequel, but hints at a possible return in future seasons of the main show.
  • Season 2 will adapt Jack Carr's True Believer, and could introduce new characters following the deaths of key figures in season 1.

The Terminal List season 2 gets an exciting update from star JD Pardo, who’s apparently absent from the prequel. The Prime Video series, based on Jack Carr’s novel, follows James Reece (Chris Pratt), a Navy SEAL Commander targeting the people who murdered his entire platoon. Pardo portrays FBI agent Tony Layun, part of the Fugitive Task Force who spent much of season 1 tracking Reece. After impressive viewership, The Terminal List season 2 was confirmed in 2023, along with the prequel show The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, a spinoff featuring the return of Reece and Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch).

During an interview with Screen Rant at the SXSW premiere of Road House, Pardo discussed the upcoming prequel series, noting that because The Terminal List: Dark Wolf takes place before Layun’s introduction, he won’t be in it. However, the actor teased that his character might come back in another season. Read Pardo’s comments below:

It's a prequel and they've already started that. It goes into an area in the books where it's before my character comes on. But I'm still in touch with all those guys. We've got some future plans that I'm not gonna mention right now, but it's all great. Absolutely.

What To Expect From The Terminal List Season 2

In The Terminal List season 1 finale, Layun acknowledges that Reece was after vengeance, and watches the former Lieutenant Commander escape, despite having the upper hand. It's worth mentioning that Pardo's character was created for the show, but given the actor's comments, and that final interaction between Layun and Reece, his return would make sense. The Terminal List season 2 will adapt Carr's second novel, True Believer, which follows Reece on another investigation, and if Layun's in his corner, he could have an even bigger role.

The Terminal List season 1 has already made several changes to the source material, including some of the names on the list and certain scenes.

Season 1 also concluded with the deaths of Lorraine Hartley (Jeanne Tripplehorn), who was complicit in RD4895 and harming Reece's platoon, and Ben, revealed to be responsible for what happened to Odin’s Sword. With the removal of multiple characters, mostly the result of Reece's eponymous list, new cast members may be introduced in The Terminal List season 2, though nothing has been confirmed.

Pratt teased the upcoming season while sharing his appreciation of the show and its fans back in July, and Pardo's comments further suggest exciting things to come. Although he may be absent in Dark Wolf, perhaps audiences will get to see more of Layun as the franchise grows, or when The Terminal List season 2 premieres.
