Don’t you know that the the Traveler (particularly male Traveler) is the most hated character in the game? Everyone knows they’re a failure. Bland and without any development. Even before the Arlecchino story quest.
they have so little personality they make the other genshin characters look developed
traveler is a failed attempt at a self insert, not even a protagonist anymore they feel like eyes for us to experience the story of genshin which doesn’t involve us

that was not your original point. you were saying furina not having sq2 doesn’t compare to what traveller got in their story which doesn’t make sense. if you were comparing what happened during furinas story to travellers shut writing then it would make sense
traveller is literally in every quest and event, he is not lacking in content while furinas story deserves an sq2

i do think that travelers development is poorly executed, but that’s more an issue of genshins story being an extended advertisement for their one-dimensional written characters than of hoyo simply hating the traveller.
traveller has no personality whatsoever and isn’t allowed to develop as any other genshin character, but it’s just felt more because we follow them for the entire story. they’re just meant to win when hoyo wants us to feel cool, and lose when they want the character they lost to feel cool.
don’t get invested in the quest storyline, get invested in the lore which is good
