This guide shows our best crafting meld sets, explaining our best in slot(BiS), a brief overview on how best to farm materia as a crafting class and if the Crystalline Tools are worth your time.

1.

Crafting Melding and BiS (Best in Slot) Patch 6.5

Once you hit level 90, you can start crafting and melding your endgame gear to craft items from the newest Master Books.

Crafting stats and melds are entirely dependent on the craft itself as well as your budget, time, and crafting goals.

There can be many viable stat points at endgame, which all work. However, some might be more expensive but offer benefits such as faster rotations and less of a reliance on HQ mats/food/potions. The most important part is to strike a balance between cost and your goals.

For example, if you do not craft often, there is no need to spend a fortune on an expensive meld set if you will not make the money back.

If you do not have the new Indagators gear yet, start by checking out our guide to catch up on gearing:

2.

What is Crafting BiS (Best in Slot)

What is best for your crafting classes depends entirely on your goals and there is no point spending 10 million gil on a set for you to not use it often.

At the same time what is best also depends on the craft, what's best for collectables may not be best to current endgame which also might not be optimal for old endgame crafts and none of which might be best for experts. To this end a more general meld set is ideal.

3.

General Crafting Meld Priority

As a general meld priority you tend to want CP → Craftmanship → Control. The reason being CP is the most impactful stat to a crafter. Craftmanship is generally needed to start and finish the craft and then control is neded to gain quality.

More specifically you only need craftmanship to set breakpoints. It works in stat tiers meaning extra points may not necessarily be of any use. The value of control has also slowly dropped this expansion due to a reliance on HQ materials.

4.

How to Farm Crafting Materia

The best way to farm crafting materia by far is via farming purple and white scrips. Purple scrips are used to obtain grade X materia, and white scrips are used for grades IV-IX.

Crafters can also Spiritbond instead for materia. This is normally less efficient though. Early on in an expansion you can get the best of both worlds by spiritbonding as you Scrip Farm.

5.

There are several meld sets we recommend for different purposes below. Check out their descriptions to know if this set is for you. With Dawntrail coming soon we mainly recommend the Budget Scrip set which is more than enough to get you to level 100.

There are no foods/potions linked directly with these sets because different rotations can require different buffs and list their stat requirements before buffs. Generally, HQ Jhinga Biryani Icon Jhinga Biryani and HQ Calamari Ripieni Icon Calamari Ripieni are the most popular foods.

You can substitute any odd numbered materia with a higher grade version of itself to save you gil. Normally VII can end up more expensive than IX for example if you are buying.

Patch 6.5 Crafting Meldsets

Below you will find our three meldsets. High tier, Mid Tier and a Budget set.

Currently, to some extent, you will always have to use HQ materials while crafting at endgame. Meld sets with more Control will not need as much starting quality. All meldsets will also be viable until level 100.

The Budget meld set is currently our most suggested set with the new expansion being so close. It isn't worth spending millions of gil on a set you will replace in a months time.

High Tier Meld Set Mid Tier Meld Set Budget Meld Set
6.1.

High Tier Meld Set

This is our main set that will provide the most value for your gear with a focus on being used in expert crafting and more efficient rotations to save you time.

This set can use the Splendorous Tools and will not have many issues as a result of the decreased quality, but always make sure you read the stat requirements and HQ materials required on rotations. Splendorous Tools are also still the best to use for expert crafting with this gear.

If you had the high tier from Patch 6.3, any changes you see are optiomal remelds where their main purpose is to allow you to single button raid Tinctures. If you do not care about single button macros, then you do not need to change your melds. Changes were made to the final slot of the head, chest and gloves to swap the CP for Control.

6.2.

Mid Tier Meld Set

This is the all-use, general meld set. It may have more difficulties during expert crafting and will require extra HQ materials to craft relevant items, but this is a perfectly viable meld set and can keep you going all the way into the next expansion.

The Splendorous Tools are recommended here to, firstly, make up for the lower stats on expert crafting, and because they are nice tools to have while saving you the hassle of crafting and melding 8 Indagators Tools. If you want/have the Indagators Tools, then meld it with a CP7 materia.

6.3.

Budget Meld Set

This gearset is our budget Scrip set for players who just want an endgame set without any of the costs which can make them raid gear, food and pots. This tier of scrip gear is actually very limiting stat wise.

The Splendorous Tools will not make much of an impact here, but having the budget set does allow you to still complete this relic questline.
