Stephen Amell and Emily Bett Rickards reunite on-screen for the very first time since Arrow‘s series finale — which aired almost exactly four years ago — in the trailer for Calamity Jane, a film due to hit theaters and digital on Friday, Feb. 2.
The premise for this trip to the Old West: After Wild Bill Hickok (played by Amell) is killed in a poker game, Calamity Jane (Rickards) must break out of prison and seek revenge.
Alas, Calamity Jane’s quest is hindered by Deadwood’s Sheriff Mason (Wynonna Earp‘s Tim Rozon), who is out to detain and arrest her.
Sharing the trailer (seen above) in Instagram, Amell wrote, “When @EmiilyBett calls, I answer.”
Amell and Rickards last shared the screen together in Arrow’s January 2020 series finale — though even that brief reunion barely came to pass.
Back in March 2019, Rickards most unexpectedly announced her exit from the Arrowverse‘s flagship series, saying on Instagram, “Felicity and I are a very tight two, but after [seasons] one through seven we will be saying goodbye to you.”
Rickards’ final appearance as a series regular was in Arrow‘s Season 7 finale. As that episode drew to a close, the Monitor (played by LaMonica Garrett) showed up in Oliver and Felicity’s near-future to collect on the deal he and Oliver made during the “Elseworlds” crossover event. The multiverse required that Oliver assist the Monitor in preventing the inevitable, saving countless lives in the process — even though Oliver was destined to die in doing so.
Shortly after that finale aired, Rickards seemed bearish on returning for the series finale, saying, “I feel like Felicity has done her time.
“We knew this was coming for a while – for over a year,” she explained, “so the whole thing is exactly what we wanted to happen.”
Rickards, though, did return for the series finale, to bring proper closure to #Olicity’s love story.
Though fans of the Arrowverse ‘ship had to be thrilled to get the couple’s final walk into the cosmic sunset, Felicity almost was involved in that very final episode’s “new” flashbacks, as well.
“The original plan was for it to be something with Oliver, Felicity and Diggle (David Ramsey), probably circa right after Episode 114, when Felicity was sort of brought into the circle of trust,” executive producer Marc Guggenheim explained to TVLine at the time. “The problem was that Emily was only available to us for two days.”
Will you make a point to watch Amell and Rickards team-up again for Calamity Jane?
Man, and we thought the Arrowverse wigs were bad…

Don’t know how much record there is of the mannerisms of the real Calamity Jane, but it’s interesting how much Emily’s performance seems to evoke Robin Weigert’s from Deadwood.
Is this really supposed to be believable??
If not in my theater, then what digital platform can I watch this movie on?
By digital they mean for purchase. Vudu and such.
Is it just me or does this look bad and ridiculous but at the same time I want to see it just to see how bad and ridiculous it really is?
Okay but why pay them all this money to play new characters e never heard of? .Just leave them be as their old characters and we’ll watch! Why do the producers complicate everything?!
Okay but if you’ve never heard of Wild Bill Hickock and Calamity Jane please go back to your high school history teacher and demand your money back.
I guess the fangirls on this site and on tumblr are the only ones that care about this news.
Oh dear.
Big fan of Rozon, but this looks like it was made with a budget of $5. Extremely shoddy.
But “oliciity” (insert Yelena shudder here) fans will be happy I’m sure and claim it’s the Tombstone of the 2020’s.
Not even fit to be mentioned in the same breath as Deadwood (and Amell ain’t even close to Carradine in this role).
I like the actors and loved Arrow, but naaah no thanks, I’ve watched and loved Deadwood, don’t see this/them adding anything at all to the story.
I’m so glad they aren’t playing each other love interest even though it’s a different story because on Arrow never saw their so called chemistry where it’s going play on digital platforms
For me Arrow started its decline when they became a couple and the show started to focus more and more on their relationship. So seeing them together makes me want to change the channel. But good for their fans.
Tim Rozon really deserves to be a bigger star. Everything I’ve seen him in, he’s fantastic. From Wynonna Earp, to Schitt’s Creek, and now SurrealEstate. The guy gives outstanding performances every time. He was certainly the best actor in this trailer.
Surreal Estate is such a great show! Really hope it continues.
This could be fun but little of what I saw in the trailer has anything to do with what actually happened.
I can’t wait! I think this movie is going to be really good and it has an amazing cast. This movie also has a really great story that is based on characters from history. I will definitely be watching Calamity Jane.
Wow. Not convincing at all. She seems like an actor trying to play a part (and failing), rather than an actor inhabiting that part.
Looks awful.
Absolutely. The Dynamic Duo! They are both fantastic, whether separate or together.
