The day a nation buried WW2 leader Winston Churchill

On 30 January 1965, Britain's wartime leader Sir Winston Churchill was buried after a full state funeral.

Silent crowds lined the streets to watch the gun carriage bearing Sir Winston's coffin leave Westminster Hall as Big Ben struck 9.45.

The procession travelled slowly through central London to St Paul's cathedral for the funeral service.

His granddaughter, Emma Soames, was just 14 years old at the time and remembers the day vividly.
