Adam Wren

Adam Wren is a national political correspondent for POLITICO, based in the Midwest. His current coverage focuses on the 2024 presidential race, Republicans, red-state Democrats and the political scene across the country for POLITICO Magazine.

Before covering the presidential campaign, he covered Mike Pence and Pete Buttigieg for nearly a decade.

Adam first began writing for POLITICO Magazine in 2015, and became a contributing editor in 2018. He has filed memorable dispatches from around the country, including an early look at Donald Trump's presidential campaign in Iowa, and a deep dive on the 2015 HIV outbreak in Scott County, Indiana. His piece “Trump County, USA,” was one of the magazine’s “12 Best Donald Trump Stories From 2015.”

He previously served as a features correspondent at Business Insider and as a contributing editor at Indianapolis Monthly magazine, where he was a finalist for the City and Regional Magazine Association’s writer of the year. He has also written for The New York Times and Washington Post.

Originally from Ohio, Adam graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University and has a master’s from Northwestern University’s Medill School, where he won the Harrington Award in magazine journalism. In his free time he runs marathons, plays soccer, and spends time with his daughter, son and wife.
