Barbara Ann Blythe

A memorial gathering for Barbara Blythe, 87, of Larue, will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Hannigan Smith Funeral Home in Athens. Barbara will be inurned at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery at a later date.

Barbara passed away on April 18, 2024, in Larue.

Barbara Ann (Woldum) Blythe was born on November 6, 1936, in Decorah, Iowa. She was the daughter of Telford Hilman Woldum and Dorothy Marie (Hall) Woldum. In 1954, she graduated from Osage High School in Iowa and later worked for Sprint Telephone Company for 14 years. Barbara, the constant crafter enjoyed floral design and decorating. She was Pinterest before there was Pinterest. Her outgoing personality, her nurturing spirit, and her big heart left an indelible mark on others.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Bob Blythe of Larue; her children, Kyle Nickerson and wife Ann of Allen, Texas, Kare Peterson and husband Mike of Carver, Minnesota, and Traci Butts and husband John of Dacula, Georgia; her sister, Donna Bailey and husband Gary of Victoria, Minnesota; her grandchildren, Stephanie Fisher and husband Jason, Steven Nickerson and wife Kelly, Lukas Peterson and wife Liezel, Linsey Peterson, Ashlynn Butts, Drew Butts, Brayden Butts, and Avery Butts; and great-grandchildren, Dax Nickerson and Sloane Nickerson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to organizations supporting Alzheimer’s or Dementia research.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Hannigan Smith Funeral Home family.
