Roger Ebert Chicago Sun-Times Jolson sang, Barrymore spoke, Garbo laughed, and now Kermit the Frog rides a bicycle... If you can figure out how they were able to show Kermit pedaling across the screen, then you are less a romantic than I am: I prefer to believe he did it himself. Rated: 3.5/4 Jun 1, 2015 Full Review Noel Murray The Dissolve With his Muppets, Henson found a balance between fuzzy post-hippie positivism and self-deprecating wit, and he added in the same quality that made many of the era's cultural phenomena so charming: simple problem-solving. Rated: 4/5 Aug 13, 2013 Full Review John Skow TIME Magazine The transition from the yank-'em-off-if-they-bomb lunacy of the TV show to the coherent narration of the film is not a complete success. May 6, 2008 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand ... this charming musical adventure riffs on movie clichés and conventions with a playfully self-aware spirit. Nov 6, 2022 Full Review Stephen Farber New West/California Suffice it to say that I think this movie is funnier than Manhattan, more romantic than Hurricane, and a more sophisticated speculation on illusion and reality than Last Year at Marienbad. Nov 3, 2021 Full Review Jason Shawhan Nashville Scene There are few things as pure and inspirational (in all senses of the word) as The Muppet Movie. Sep 10, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Brent A 40% rating ... I can respect the amount of hardwork necessary for a film like this, but I struggled to maintain interest and some of the humor seemed flat. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Audience Member The Muppets film debut is a wonderful musical comedy road adventure with real heart. Kermit and the gang are right at home on the big screen, delivering one liners with the precision of Hope & Crosby, and singing unforgettable songs, most notably the Oscar nominated "Rainbow Connection". Look for some hilarious cameos throughout, as well. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/30/24 Full Review Madilin S A charming absolute must-see. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 10/05/23 Full Review Jacob B I know most people really love this movie but I don't see it as a masterpiece. Just a very well-made road film. Maybe I just preferred the 2011 film's meta-commentary, I don't know. But anyway, The Muppet Movie is a fun all-ages adventure with a ton of funny moments, memorable guest stars, catchy songs and great visual effects that I'm sure must've been downright groundbreaking at the time. It's a bit corny, sure and I found the jokes more amusing than sending me into hysterics but I can see appeal of The Muppet Movie. Not just an entertaining road film but also a pretty good origin story for the iconic comedy troupe. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Jash I f*%$#@g love the Muppets! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 09/09/23 Full Review Charles H The Muppet Movie is sweet, fun, full of catchy songs, and perhaps most importantly, has a smart script to delight adults and kids alike.
