We decided to check out downtown after business hours and found the Fountain Square alive with salsa music and dancers! It was wonderful! There were people of all ages there having a wonderful time. We found out that there is something (free) happening almost every night on Fountain Square. 100% worth checking out!

Walked through on our way to the Aronoff. If you want to go ice skating on a Saturday evening… make sure to sign up on their website several days early!!! It’s no longer first come first served. The fountain is off for the season now too.

The square itself is relatively small, so there isn't room for much. There were some small tables set out with umbrellas along the south side of the square. There were 2 food trucks parked along the street, one selling Mexican food. I chose to get an order of Mexican street corn, which was decent. It was a workday and it past the regular lunch time when I was there, so maybe that's why it was fairly quiet without much going on. The fountain is pretty, but there isn't much to do except spend a few minutes walking around it.

We found Fountain Square on accident. We happened to come out onto the square from the parking garage. We spent time taking pictures of the fountain, listening to the music playing from the speaker, and even came back later to get ice cream! It was a great way to keep track of where we needed to be. Pretty fountain even when the water isn't flowing.

Traveling here from Virginia I was not expecting it to be hotter. After several miles of walking the neighborhood it was nice to stop for a lemonade and a seat. The park was clean with excellent food service using tent service and a food truck.

So nice to see people ice skating and having fun at Fountain Square during the holidays (and COVID)! The music and lights are nice and festive. The area has food and coffee options that are open as well. If you can ice skate, this is a great place for some fun times!

We went to downtown Cincinatti by taxi, while we were staying in Florence KY. To see what Cincinatti had to offer and the taxi driver recommended Fountain Square as the main part for us tourists, so that is where he dropped us off.

This is the centre of the city with its charming old water fountain; the fountain itself is an attraction. The square looks like a great place to meet, eat and socialize. And there are the pig sculptures of all different styles and colours all over downtown. When we went there wasn't any music or anything going on? It looked like it had the potential to be a pretty good place for an evening. We were just there during the early afternoon, but it was all set up for music ready for that night. There is a stage with amplifiers and speakers that broadcast pop music for up to three to four hours every night. There is free music in the square by nice old fountain. Plenty of food options around square, shopping just across the street.

Not a lot else there for tourists, Cincinatti was a clean well built up area but we could not find much to do there. The toilets around the square were locked during the day and the honey buckets were turned around so you could not use them, when we were there and we struggled to find any available to use, we asked a shopping centre assistant and she directed us to the local library, where we casually walked in past the front desk and in front of you to your right are the toilets.

Go to a Cincinnati Reds game that was great and the best thing we did on our visit to Ohio.

I was excited to visit Fountain Square based on other reviews and seeing all the events listed on their web site. I am also a classic TV fan, and recognized the fountain from the opening of WKRP. My first day in Cincinnati, I arrived at lunch time and opted to visit Fountain Square first. I believed it would be a great place to get a bite to eat, and starting point for exploring some of the city. I found the square easily, and the parking garage was convenient. I excitedly parked my car and headed to ground level. As soon as I exited the elevator, I was taken with how small the square really is. I exited to the left toward the fountain, and around the back of the square where the Rock Bottom restaurant is located. I was surprised with how many empty looking store fronts face the square. I had seen a listing for a tourist information center at the square. I looked around and could not find the information center. There were several sketchy looking people hanging around the perimeter of the square. I headed toward Rock Bottom, but was put off by a rough looking bunch of individuals hanging around outside. As a woman traveling alone, I try to be mindful of my surroundings and this did not make me feel comfortable. I continued around the walkway to see where else I might find some lunch. I paused to check out the Potbelly sandwich shop, and was immediately approached by a panhandler asking for spare change. I kept walking toward the street, out of the shadows where I just didn't feel safe. There were a handful of people sitting at tables enjoying ice cream, but the overwhelming feeling was one of desolation. Even the fountain looked depressed. I headed toward the sidewalk and debated heading across the street to a bookstore/cafe. Another man began approaching me, so I turned around and headed back toward the parking garage. I stopped quick to snap one pic of the fountain, which ended up including a homeless man filling his water bottle from the fountain itself. There were some workers setting up for what looked like a concert, and I debated asking one of them to escort me back to my car! In the end I spent maybe 5-7 mins. in the square, and left without having gotten any lunch. I ended up going across the river to Newport on the Levee. I guess it's nice to see a piece of Cincinnati history, but don't go alone not even in the middle of the day on a Saturday!

There is always something fun and free on Fountain Square... during the spring/summer they have a farmers market on Tuesday at lunchtime...awesomeness with local vendors food and unique items (the Jewelry Vendor was amazing). In the evenings Thursday night Salsa on the Square is the most fun you can have for FREE anywhere! There's a website that shows the calendar of events myfountainsquare.com.... check it out

There always seems to be a good band performing when I visit. Plenty of street vendors with a great variety of foods are always on offer at Fountain Square.

Come to Fountain Square, the heart of Cincinnati!
