So, I picked up Nils Lofgren Acoustic Live recently. I've been enjoying it quite a bit - both the music and the recording quality. Other reccomendations from his catalog?

I picked up his solo debut on vinyl recently and loved it. Now I want to get Grin's first album and his own Cry Tough.

If you can find a copy of "Wonderland", that's a good one . . .

Have to agree that the first one is the best. After that if you can find the radioshow, get it. I think you can find it on his web site.:righton:

'Nils Lofgren' and 'Cry Tough' are his two best in my opinion...beyond that my favorite tunes are spread out over the rest of his albums: Across The Tracks, Daddy Dream and Deadline from 'Wonderlandand', No Mercy, Shine Silently, and Steal Away from 'Nils', New Holes In Old Shoes and Sweet Midnight from 'Flip', Valentine, Sticks & Stones, Walking Nerve from 'Silver Lining' and most especially the entire 'Nils Lofgren - Old Grey Whistle Test' CD (if you can find it or are willing to spend the money) is especially good!

If you liked Acoustic Live then you'll love his latest cd of Neil Young songs.

It may be hard to track down, but A&M's promo "Authorized Bootleg" (from '75?) killed the later double live lp.

..If this is heaven, this must be Nils!

Actually, it's real easy to find now. Nils Lofgren sells it for $15.00 on his own website. The title has been changed to "B**tleg". It is, by a million miles, my favourite Nils record. If you want to have a quick listen before you buy, Wolfgang's Vault has the whole show online, including one extra song not on the album.

I like the first Lofgren CD (from Hip O Select), compilation CD (A&M) and Grin compilation CD. I'm still waiting for the Cry Tough and I Came To Dance CDs (hopefully from Hip O Select). In the meantime try the first Crazy Horse CD with Nils guesting, its great.
    Regards, Trevor.

IMO, the first Grin and 1 + 1 are essential along with the first solo. I haven't heard many of the later ones, but I do have one called Damaged Goods that's very quirky and lovable.

Any word about how Nils is doing? Heard he was going to have hip replacement or something recently. Hope he is back 100%.

Hello everyone, hope you're all in good health and spirits.

I'm rehabbing ok and appreciate all the kind thoughts and encouraging words. Amy threw a big election night party and we were thrilled and hopeful the way it turned out.

Don't have a lot going on right now. I finally started setting up the home studio to videotape some more guitar lessons I hope to get to you by month's end and I am fishing around for some free download songs I think you might like.

Please take care of yourselves and family in these crazy times. We've had a lot of downloads of the free "Yankee Stadium" song Amy and I wrote and appreciate you all spreading the word. I'll stay in touch.

    Peace and Believe - Nils

I think the song Direction form Grin's first album is one of his best songs but for whatever reason it has never shown up on any of his live albums or on any compilation albums. Seems like it's been ignored since it was released way back when.

I love the first album with Grin but also enjoy "I Came To Dance" (has that ever been released on CD?) :)
